Looking at getting a new cam for a BRM engine. Have been told to stay away from regrinds. But sounds like it might be the best.I hear billet is the way to go then I read it’s not what it’s hoped up to be. Warranty is difference of 2 years (3 years vs 5 year). Spoke to Frank and he’s very knowledgeable and forthcoming with info. Sounds like he has a special bearing that oils the cam better. Sounds like he is easier to get ahold of if I did have an issue
Please comment with what your experience with either cam is doing and or not doing from the 2 different sellers.

Thanks ahead of time

Used Frank many moons ago when I had my BRM. Bought the cam kit (bearing, etc.) from him and it worked out perfect. Installed with no problems and everything was shipped in a timely manner. No complaints from me.

I used the stock replacement kit from FCP. Probably good enough for 150k.

So how long do you plan on keeping the car?

Frank does have the modified bearings that are supposed to better lubricate the cam. I have installed his cam kit in my BRM in 2014 when the car had 145k miles. It still goes strong 9 years later at 307k miles. Also, he is very helpful and provides a lot of information.

Frank is a TDI guy and knows these cars through and through, Geoff (Colt) just makes the cams.
I do have a Colt in my ALH that I haven’t run, can’t speak to that yet. But for a PD you probably want Frank’s modified bearings, from what I have read.
