I've got an 01 Beetle TDI 5 speed that runs and shifts perfect IF, I get the trans downshifted into 1st gear as long as the car is moving. There is no grinding or syncro issues while the car is stopped with the clutch down. But if I forget to shift all the way down at a stop sign I can not shift it out of gear. I have to turn the engine off, shift into neutral and then shift into gear normally. Any ideas where to start looking. I searched the threads but did not find anything addressing my problem.
