Clunk in front end

It's an 03 Jetta Manual, about 195K miles currently

I'm getting a clunking sound in the front end when the car starts to move forward.
In the last year or so I have replaced:
Ball joints
LCA bushings with solid Audi style
Inner tie rod on driver's side
Sway bar bushings
Struts were replaced about 90K miles ago.

What can cause a clunk that's not on the list?

John

One often overlooked piece is the upper strut bearing and mount. This is the top mount for your struts and provides a solid platform for your front suspension. If worn, the bearings within this mount make noise, there is slop from worn rubber, and it can shorten the life of your shocks. A small addition to any front suspension overhaul that can make a huge difference in overall ride quality.

I don't think it would be hub bearings, but you might want to jack her up and rule that out tho.

I have the same noise on my 01 if I back up and turn at the same time

I think it is the spring

i had an issue with the actual subframe bushings. if you lowered the subframe at all when you did the lca bushings the subframe bushings can move out of place a tiny bit, mine would "pop" every time i went to accelerate or brake semi hard. they are also held in with single use stretch bolts.

Did you replace sway bar end links as well? I didn't see that on your list.

I replaced the struts at about 100K. I did the caps with bushings and bearings at that time. Doesn't rule it out though. I only notice this noise when I start the car from a stop or brake to a stop. Never when hitting a speed bump or turning.

Negative. I just had the ends off too, when I replaced the steering knuckle on the driver's side. I didn't notice anything worn out looking about them though.

Check driver side rear most k frame bolt. They tend to strip out. The heli coil kit is about 75 and the bolt is 10.
