Clips for cabin air filter

Can anyone tell me what this is called, and where I can get some?



It's the spring clip that secures the cover for the cabin air filter in both of my A4's. I've overtightened the screws that go into some of the clips, and stripped them.

(It's smaller than the clips that secure some of the other plastic pieces on the body.)

I think those clips come as part of the rain tray/cowl don't they? I've replaced a couple of those now, but I don't remember swapping the clips over...

Are you thinking that the standard VW clips will be too big?

Any hardware or auto parts store should have them. Just take one in to match the size.

Rembrant: Your link to World Impex is for the larger clip (a k a speed nut) that secures things like fender liners and belly pans. The clip for the cabin air filter is smaller.

Alchemist: Before posting, I took my clip to AutoZone. No luck finding a replacement there -- but no great surprise. (It was AutoZone, after all.) I'll try the local hardware store. If that doesn't work I guess I'll have to go to a VW parts counter and pay $50 each or whatever.

Anyone else got any ideas before I do that?

Yeah, take a piece of tin, bend it double and drill a hole through it.

Any decent ACE Hardware will have speed nuts, ebay too.

Local mom-and-pop hardware had them: U-type 8-32 speed nuts.
