Braking feels ok. But lately when I apply the brakes I hear a faint clicking. What might this be and/or mean?

That was my thought, too. I recently did the front brakes on a friend's Mk7 Golf and one of the four brake pads came out of the box with the anti-rattle spring broken off.
That "spring" is just riveted to the pad's backing plate, and my broken one was "torn" away from that rivet, so I can see one potentially being "damanged-but-mostly-intact" and eventually working its way loose.
I told the owner that she might hear some clicking or metallic rattle when the brakes are applied until I get it replaced (new set of pads coming from the seller in a few days).

You could always sue the dealership... maybe they sabotaged them on you last visit
Satire and humor if it didn't come across that way 🤣

well, you did have it at the dealer a bit the past few months.... they didn't happen to perform a "complimentary" inspection on those visits, did they??

Either the sheet they supply wasnt supplied and filled out, or my guess would be they didnt adjust tire pressures and stuff and he checked afterwards. Usually thats only done with oil changes though. So, Who knows.
