I'm having a he!! of a time cleaning the inside of my windshield. Using standard window cleaner. Nothing special. Also using c-fold towels and have tried microfiber too. I get nothing but streaks. I'm wondering if I need a more aggressive cleaner or try using a squeegee. Would cover the dash first if I went the squeegee route.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Yeap...same thing happened to me.

Seems the only thing that works is the damp towel they use at the
Car Wash. Funny how the simplest thing works.

I use crumpled newspaper & glass cleaner. I can't remember who I learned that trick from, but it works. Just make sure you use a page with no colored ink.

Ahhh I was having this same issue. I tried a bunch of different things, nothing but streaks. I had it into the dealer a couple days ago for a state inspection so I asked them to clean it since it was cleanest when I first got her. There are absolutely no streaks now! I don't know what they use but it works ubër good!

I have good luck with water and an old, but clean rag. On occasion I use a little Windex.

Sprayway is the best IMHO, I tried them all. Second best I would say is the Invisibleglass by Stoners

Sprayway is what my local independent glass shops use.

Also the best I've found.

I'm always amazed when I have trouble with streaking on the inside of the windshield how dirty my wipe seems to be. I start with paper towels to get the heavy stuff.

Then crumpled newspaper or micro towels(but then often I seem to be chasing "fuzzies")

Oh - and the common sense part. Go one direction on the inside and the other direction on the outside. Helps to figure out whether the streaks/smears are on the inside or outside.

My local window tint place (where I get my cars tinted) uses InvisibleGlass on all of their installations. They also recommend it for their customers. I can't complain, it's pretty cheap and seems to do the job.

Place three drops of Johnson's Baby Shampoo in a quart container / sprayer. Old Windex bottle is good. Fill with distilled water.

Put a clean towel down on the dashboard, spray the inside of the windshield with the mixture, and squeegee dry. Repeat for all the interior glass, using the same towel.

Use the (now fairly moist) towel (folded) to polish any squeegee marks out. The rear view mirror is always in the way, but I don't think it's worth the time and effort to remove it just for this simple job.

These towels on a stick work well also

I put a very light coating of liquid car wax on the inside of my windshield and wipe it with one of those synthetic shimmies.

They sell the "stick" at CVS and walgreens for 10 buck. Works well.

My guess is that you are getting a vinyl coating on the windshield from the interior outgassing. With time this should get better.

The car washers at the VW dealer I worked at as a teenager said the same thing. It does work--I tried it.

cleaning inside windshield

I detail cars as a hobby. Here is the best product for windows I have found. It is called Optimum no-rinse and is designed for washing cars. For windows, I squirt a little ONR in half a bucket of clean water. I use a wash mitt to wipe down the windows and a water magnet to wipe dry. If you don't have a water magnet, any absorbent towel will work.
