Shell on SE corner of 53 (N Bolingbrook Dr) and E Boughton has no bioblend sticker. It's a Circle K and pump is labelled Shell Diesel.

The Sam's Club in Addison sells diesel, and they told me when I called it's not bio. 3.16 RUG/3.89 diesel yesterday.

I wonder if all of the Sam's Clubs are bio free? Anyone know about Sam's Club in Evanston?

You'd have to call them, and I'd ask to see the bill of lading for what they put in their tank. As far as gasoline goes, I know they buy it from whoever has the best price, so they may or may not source diesel from multiple suppliers. Just because the last tanker didn't have bio doesn't mean the next one won't.

Thanks.

I have been buying at the BP in Highland Park which has no stickers and has been reputed to have non biodiesel.

FYI, my HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) failed about a month ago whe the tank was near empty. This caused metal shards to travel throughout the fule system and destroy it. The glowplug warning light came on the dashboard when it happened and also a text message regarding service needed. I drove home and tried to drive in the next day and ended up being towed to the dealer when the engine stalled several times and eventually died. If this ever hapens again I will pull over and have the car towed immediately.

Luckily, Jennings replaced the fuel system ($6,000 repair) under warranty.

This appears to be a problem for the TDIs. I don't know if this is related to bio-diesel or not. Seems to be a national problem... lots of complaints by TDI owners about failed fuel systems when tank is near empty.

I would highly recommend never letting your fuel get low.

Did you report this to the NHTSA? If not, please do so. There is a link in MK5 section.

I've been using Meijer diesel (as per discussion recommendations) on my MKIV TDI 5spd and am wondering, I just picked up a brand new '13 Golf 4-door TDI DSG w/ tech. package, should I continue to fill there or change?

Just a caution to not assume all BP's are ok...got delivery guy confirmation that the BP at Bull Valley & Crrstal Lake roads is B11 although no stickers on pump. (far NW suburbs...McHenry) I've been sticking to the aforementioned Philips 66 in Volo with no compliants (other than no pay at pump). As an aside...any "trusted" dealers in the NW suburbs for routine maintance? I bought from Liberty but willing to travel for best service!
BP in Wauconda is another good spot.

Anyone have a non-bio station in the Evanston/Skokie/Wilmette area?

Apologies if this is answered earlier on the thread. I did read the last few pages, but not the whole thing.

Thanks!

Don't know if anything will come of it, but I saw a story yesterday about how the state is hard up for money due to communities not wanting video poker machines installed. They talked about eliminating the biodiesel tax break among other things to get more income.

North part of Illinois, Cook and Lake counties

Whenever I fill my tank (north part of Cook county) I look at the a sticker and read it. sometimes #2, sometimes ULSD sometimes just diesel, time to time 20% biodiesel,
I did not pay any attention to it, till yestaday - "using bio diesel B11-B20 is strictly prohibited !"
Where in Chicagoland, northside, ( Palatine, Buffalo Grove, Libertyville, Rolling Meadows, Wheeling, Prospect Hights) I can get just petrodiesel, no biodiesel.
for my 2012 JSW TDi, 30k miles on it
Shell and BP sells( at least in my neighborhood) someones else diesel, it is not made by them.
Before I bought my TDi I did not care much about diesel, it was everywhere... But today.. if I am about to buy another car, diesel will be not an option, too much hassle. But I have to drive what I got now.. it is too late..
Tnx

That station converted to bio long ago. Was there a blue sticker on the pump? Besides the only way to tell for sure is to ask to see the delivery specs. Employees know nothing.

This list exists in this thread, but I'll list it again.

1. Ernie's Shell in Lincolnshire
2. Phillips 66 in Volo on Rt 12 and 120 advertises no bio and claims they never will convert. They believe it's a competitive advantage. It's a nice ride with a cup of coffee. I spool my turbo a couple times on my way out and back.
3. BP at Sanders and Dundee and BP on Green Bay and Cental (Highland Pk) no sticker. Haven't checked these in awhile.
4. BP in Wauconda on 176 and 12. Checked last week.
5. Some say local Meijer's is a source. Schaumburg I believe.

JSW 2012, made april 2012

Owners manual
page two hundred .. something
it says...
"up to 5% BIO Diesel ONLY
it means NO B11 nor B20"
I did not care much about those numbers
up to a couple days back
I've read that forum, some guys pointed --> for your baby, starting '09 or so, ONLY PETRODIESEL or up to 5% BIO
So, I checked manual.
When I remember, there is only ULSD sticker ( on every gas station) "for vehicles 2007 and newer"
time to time I have seen "#2"... never had the chance to see "premium" yet.
I'll go back, for some time, to see North Dakota again, I am worry now about a quality of the fuel on Great Plains region.
BTW. For every fill up I put some "power service Diesel Fuel Supplement"

Personally I have fueled at:
 • Meijer's in Rolling Madows, Bollingbrook and Highland , IN that have Premium Diesel
 • Sonic Delta's at Joliet and Elmhurst have premium diesel.

Very interesting ... are we to assume that ALL Speedways carry No.2 diesel?
I also find this interesting.

I live near 2 Speedways and drive by several others everyday. My wife also gases up at Speedway weekly (patronage program member), so I'm in and around them regularly. Never seen an IL Speedway without the blue biomass sticker on the Diesel pump (in 2 years since buying my JSW).

Yep, me thinks the MSDS is misleading ...

BTW I was down at St Louis yesterday and bought No. 2 Diesel (label right on the pump) for $3.47 :D - I'm moving!

I listed where the D2 is around here. Both those stations you mentioned converted over a year ago. There are no more in this neighborhood, I scan stations all the time. You probably live 2 or 3 miles from me. If you only want to fill around your house there are 3 stations

Ernie's Shell down the street from Lincolnshire BP (pump 5 is auto nozzle, rest are high flow truck nozzles).
Peacock Mobil was unlabeled, but I haven't checked that place in 6 months, so not sure
BP at Dundee and Sanders

Yuuupeee :)
It is not a Shell brand diesel, but non bio Petrodiesel.
whatever the price is, for me and most of us there is no search for cheaper but for ANY petrodiesel sold in chicagoland.

VW official answer about petro and bio

Hello!

Thanks for the quick response!

Illinois is one of few states that offers tax incentives for high blend biodiesel fuel, which makes that a very popular fuel option in your state. We recognize that this conflicts with our diesel vehicle requirements, and VW is continuing to test higher blends of biodiesel to determine its compatibility with our vehicles, and have approved B5 blend already (not too long ago biodiesel wasn’t acceptable at all!).

While it isn’t the easiest to find a fuel station offering B5 or less blend of biodiesel, you can find them through www.nearbio.com. At that site, they do list the blend of biodiesel that each station offers. And of course, if you find a station that offers Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (many larger fuel stations, like Costco/Sam’s Club stations, do offer biodiesel and ULSD simultaneously), you wouldn’t have any issues at all by using that!

I hope this clarified things for you – if you do have additional concerns, you can contact our Customer CARE Center at 1-800-822-8987, or inquire with your dealership where they suggest to fuel up.

Thanks for chatting!

-------------------- ha.. now I know why people are laughing on me, they have a gas station on every corner of any city, but me... I do have a diesel #2 just few per state...
According to that website they listed - I do have 50 miles one way to fill my tank..
--- why did I bother to buy that diesel crap? :(
