Funny. But what are diesel gloves? Are they work gloves or nitrile?

Remember IL is tax incentive state for biodiesel. Not a mandate state. That is why you can still find D2 in some places.

Whoops! Not mandating, thanks for the correct.

Here's a shot of the gloves, sent the wife a text while filling.

Question for fill ups, is Diesel dangerous to get on the skin? ~looks to be the same as gas, wash off immediately, but you should be fine.

Do you guys have any tricks while filling up? I kept on burping it tonight while filling and a little bit spit out at the end, quickly wipe it up with a wet paper towel they have at the pump.

Not trying to derail the thread.

I just looked it up. I'm putting my nitrile gloves on the next time. Apparently small amount of distillates and other chemicals are quickly absorbed and can be cancer causing if enough exposure. I'm sure the risk is small, but.....

I do keep some non-ammonia glass wipes in the car in case I dribble diesel on my car or tires. Also do keep alcohol wipes and nitrile gloves in my cubby area.

I have filled up twice. Both at BP on devon and woodale. There is no sticker for bio and attendant said they do not use bio at that location. However I live in schaumburg and its a drive for me just to fill up. I saw higher priced shell on higins and plum grove rd. No bio tags, no ultra low sulfer tag ether. Ask attendantlast night and he said they use bio gas. Drove around and found no straight diesel around me. . By reading this forum I know about mijer. Does any one knows any other diesel stations around Schaumburg with out bio.

Thank you for great forum. New to diesel but learn something new every day

excellent post - thank you

I have been following this thread for several years now. This was the best post to date. Thank you. Can you supply the exact link for "true dealers"?

"ULSD Fuel Retailers without any biodiesel blend

Hi Everyone,

In my pursuit to find a pure provider of diesel fuel without any mix of Bio Diesel, I talked to several Chicago based retailers of fuel near my home in suburban chicago. Below are those that mix bio diesels into their blends and cannot guarantee B5 (5% or less) biodiesel.

Citgo - mixed from 5-15% biodiesel
Thortons - mixed up to 20%
BP - up to 10% mix
Shell - straight diesel, no bio diesel blended.

I spoke to a jobber (those oil refinery companies that sell to your local gas stations). The one that services my local stations of Shell said that they do no mix any bio diesel even though the State gives a credit up to 40 cents to those jobbers if they mix up to 11% (B11). Similar to ethanol mixed into gasoline (hey, Illinois has lots of corn). Hence, many Shell stations will be more expensive, but provide straight diesel. The jobber provided a list of stations that they service in Chicago, Columbus, Cleveland, Detroit locations. Might be useful if you want to keep the warranty in compliance of less than B5.

Good luck and many happy MPGs on your TDI.'

Tom, your post made me look at this again. I was wrong, I had originally thought the post of this site included b11 stations. I looked up the addresses and while very close to stations I know to be b11, they are not the same. I will check out a couple.

This list does include many non diesel stations, but does include the Addison Shell I've mentioned in other posts and one mentioned recently on Northwest hwy by another member. I see a Shell at Golf and Greenwood and one on Willow in Northfield that look interesting to add to my list.

Here is working link. I know it looks identical, but something in truncation must be different.
http://www.truenorth.org/trueDealers/DealerLocations.aspx

Update: Northfield didn't pan out. The station listed didn't have diesel. There are two Shell stations in less than a mile on Willow - hence the confusion. The other one had the dreaded blue sticker.

Unless they've changed, and since I don't have a diesel any more I can say for sure, but the best bet near Addison for B0 is the Delta Sonic on North Avenue, a half block east of 83.

No evil blue stickers on the pumps at the Shell stations at the SE corner of Butterfield and Farnsworth (Aurora) or the NW corner of US 34 and IL 59 (Fox Valley Mall area). I've filled up once at the Butterfiled/Farnsworth station.

Prices at both are consistent with petrodiesel prices, which is to say higher than regular unleaded gasoline. I asked the attendant at the Fox Valley station whether or not it was bio and she said she didn't know, but seriously doubted that it was.

Like some others have posted, my car seems to run better on the Shell fuel than it does on the Meijer. Also could be the warmer weather...

I'm running on Meijer from Plainfield by 135th street and I'm actually getting better MPG than the stock Speedway Biodiesel they put in for my first fill up. I don't know if that is normal with diesel, but I definitely notice a difference with the drive.

Keep in mind I could be nuts also :p

Wheeling, literally across the street from the northern fence of Palwau...Chicago Executive Airport.

Attendant confirmed Premium D2.

This after about 9 stops in the area between Buffalo Grove and Mundelein...all blue stickers, was starting to get pissed, I've had the car for five days and this was my first diesel purchasing experience.

Did you actually fuel there? I was told they only have high flow truck nozzles by their service manager (or at least that is what he called himself).

If that's close, the BP I mention in the other post is just down the street. The dealer sent me there. Willow and Sanders.

Yeah, it was a pain in the ass, took like 10 minutes of slow squeezing...but about half way through a FedEx driver pointed out that the pump on the other side had the smaller nozzle, have to try it out next time.

Did you confirm they really had the auto nozzle? The guy I talked to was pretty sure.

If they don't, check out the BP. Supposedly they sold bio a long time ago, but truck demand switched them back. So don't be confused if one pump has bio on the push button. No sticker.

That station on Old Palatine is right by my office. I'll have to check it out and see if there is an auto nozzle. Thanks for the heads-up! So far I've been filling up at Ernie's and the Shell at Woodman's (Kenosha, Wisconsin).

I tried to go to Fries in person, but they close early on Saturday and are closed on Sunday. Hard to get over that way during the week. Maybe I'll check them out Friday when I'm taking a mental health day.

Well... Stopped by the Feece Oil retail station in Minooka this morning looking to fuel up. All the auto nozzles had bio. The attendant said the non-bio was in back, but had a large nozzle. She also said they move it to one of the forward pumps during winter.

I was at Feece Batavia this morning. Talked with a fellow there who knew VW requirements. Directed me to the back 0% Bio pumps. All filled up now.

A caution about the BP "Premium Diesel". Went to a BP in McHenry (far NW burbs) last week. No stickers on pump, and clerk confirmed no bio (for whatever that's worth). However I happened to catch the delivery driver as he was pulling in and he said he is delivering B11. Not sure if that's standard at all area BP's now or just this station. Looks like I'll be sticking to Meijer.

Confirmed Wadsworth Mobil at Rt 41 and Wadsworth Rd is B5. Suspected for some time since they are 15 cents higher than 2 competitors across the street.

The Phillips 66 station on Rt. 83 in Willowbrook has no signs on the pump and I asked inside. They said they have no biodiesel in their fuel. Their price is also higher than others I've seen so it would make sense.

The Shell station by my work off I-55 and Lemont Rd. (Darien or Woodridge) has no signs on their diesel pumps. I don't know if this is good or bad. I did NOT go in to ask them. Do Shell stations with no stickers on them generally mean straight diesel?

I'm new to this whole thing and this is my first post. Thought I'd try to contribute!

If no blue sticker at shell and higher than avg price suspect either straight diesel or B5. I fill up at medinah and lake. Talked at length with owner and their delivery company - true north.org. Like the fuel. Not the price.

please provide more detail on station locations as they are found. It will help others. Especially if it's a station with poor labeling.

Absolute price doesn't help, it's relative price to station down the street. My current D2 station is at 3.955. Does that mean yours wasn't? But the Thorton's next to it (B11) was at 3.849. Sticker is the key, as best we can ever know without seeing the shipping manifest.

I could tell you that if there was a station down the street with diesel. :) This station is all by its lonesome.
