Well no more pure #2 at the Bp in bartlett at Stearns and rte 59. Just stopped in there last night and they had changed to a non Bp branded bio mix.

I feel your pain, I don't even think about it anymore, I just put in fresh diesel and say that i HAVE REALLY GOOD LUBRICATION! I love 10% Bio in Illinois and and VWof A knows it and they continue to sell cars in Illinois.

After watching one nearby station after another switch to 11% plus biodiesel I started taking the trip to Meijer's on Randall Rd in Algonquin. They advertise it at the Pumps as Premium Diesel (no bio). I talked to a guy who was filing up his F-350 and he told me that he had to spend big bucks replacing DPF filters on his small fleet after just one or 2 fill-ups with bio-blend at other stations. The problem is particularly prevalent in winter. That area is at the edge of the suburbs and there are a high volume of farmers and other heavy users there. He says they (he and other businessmen and farmers) specifically requested Meijer management to stick with pure premium diesel regardless of price because they are high volume purchasers whose equipment is damaged by biodiesel use. So far they've done that.

I have wondered about this issue myself. I think if VW wants to sell the cars with diesel engines here, they realize those cars are going to get a fair amount of b11.

has "no bio-diesel" on their pump. I've been buying diesel for my truck and bobcat there for years. I actually don't think any of the diesel stations around here are bio; which is odd since ADM is right here on the river.

Figured I'd contribute my local Diesel station to the list that is still doing non-Bio D2. Since I got the car in October their pump has said "Premium Winter Diesel" and the receipt clearly states Diesel 2. The only problem is they aren't pay the pump there so it's annoying if you want to top it off. I've gotten them to turn it on without going in so I can top it off, but it depends on who is working.

Lake Marion Quik-Mart Phillips 66
170 Lake Marian Road
Carpentersville, IL 60110

They do a fair amount of truck traffic too due to the industrial stuff further down Lake Marion road and they are the closest Diesel station until the two bio-diesel stations (BP and Thortons) at 72 and 68 (Dundee).

Premium Diesel @ Fries Automotive Wheeling IL

Just Stumbled upon a Independent Station (Fries Automotive) in Wheeling IL its right by the Chicago Executive Airport. They sell Premium Diesel just thought i'd point it out don't know if anyone has filled up there before or not just know that the only other place that has a Huge Sign touting Premium Diesel is at the Sycamore IL BP and was normally the same price as the palatine area diesel but lately they have been gouging .. Anyhow I gave it a try and seems to be pretty good fuel very smooth engine and easy starting and according to the sign above the pumps it has PS additive already added in... it was 3.99 gal. last friday when i filled up which is about the same price as every else was selling it around this area.. Here is the exact address if anyone care to check it out
its just west of the McDonalds at the Intersection of Palatine Rd and Milwaukee Av

The Belvidere oasis now has stickers saying that their diesel is unbranded and may contain up to 5% bio-content.
I'll have to check Lake Forest again. I wonder if they can vary from one another or if they got push back from the truckers and switched back.

I went over to Fries today, but they were closed. I'll have to call next week to see their hours. It looks like they primarily service trucks and their sign says Premium diesel. Assuming that isn't an old sign. I realized I was close to the BP the dealer had on their list (Sanders and Willow). Indeed D2 for 3.799. I got a BP card, so 5% rebate on that. I might use them awhile. Also nice is the diesel pump handle had a big label on it. No remote chance of a user misfuel.

Checked with Fries and their fuel does contain biodiesel. I followed up asking what percentage. I'll post when they respond.

Just talked to them 1/5/12 update: The guy who knows bio content was offsite today, but the service guy told me that they only have high flow pump nozzles and they wouldn't allow me to fill unless I had appropriate fuel system. So that knocks us CR types out for using this station.

Meijer still non-bio. Filled up at: 1301 Meijer Drive, Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Sign above pump read:

Increases Fuel Economy up to 5%
Improves Fuel Lubricity
Anti-Gel, Anti-Ice Seasonal Protection

Just wanted to give my observations in and around Libertyville, IL:

The Shell on Peterson (just east of Butterfield) and the Shell on Milwaukee (just south of downtown district) has Diesel without any sticker indicating a biodiesel mix. Not sure if that means there isn't any bio included but they don't indicate there is.

The Mobil on Park and the Lake Forest Oasis used to have no sticker indicating Biodiesel mix but now they have "Biodiesel pumps" with the 5-20% mix stated that "it's not a Mobil brand".

For what it's worth i fill up at the two Shells 85% of the time and have just under 40K on my 2010 TDI and it runs great. Unlike some on here I bought the car when the tax credit was still available and the main purpose was to keep my fuel cost as low as possible (lots of highway driving) while getting a decent amount of space. If the fuel is going to cause an issue I have no problems getting rid of the car but I would rather just drive it into the ground... However, if a Prius V is in my future so be it.

Is that the Shell at 21 and 176? If so, it had sticker for up to 20 the last time I was there in August. Did it change back?
I was just there and it didn't have a sticker so I'm not sure if it's changed back. I'm sure that the Shell on Peterson never had a sticker, and I'm unsure if they would have different fuel being so close.
