I was only wanting to see how the Ecodiesel drove. Next I was getting my stuff out of my Jetta, and putting it in the truck. I didn't know the the Ecodiesel has the same problematic CP4 HPFP, however. Not many failures thus far.

If you test drive an Ecodiesel, you will buy it.
I let a guy off the snowmobile forum I belong too drive my ecodiesel powered Jeep Grand Cherokee, and he ended up buying one 3 days later.
He called me a week later to ask about delete tuning, since his is stock and mine is tuned

Does the ecodiesel come in a 4WD? When I was building one on their website, it would only let me do 2WD for the diesel.

I saw a guy post several videos on youtube where his cam spun its drive gear at around 140k miles. Would be interesting to know if this is an isolated issue or?

A friend of mine bought an ecodiesel ram based on your and oldnavy's experiences so thanks for posting! :)
Yeah that whole saga was very misleading, and whatever actually happened is way far off of what that guy was reporting. The shop was able to "fix" it for short money in one day...if you actually spun a cam gear you'd have major head damage...anyway.

I love mine!

Saw my first Colorado in the wild in Guelph at the dealership, asked if it was available for test drive but apparently the Canadian dealers aren't getting many diesels so they don't want to put much mileage on it cause they know it will sell, I likely wasn't a serious enough purchaser to warrant a bit of mileage

guess i'll wait a bit longer, but might be my replacement for my 2015 Jetta, wish i had got a wagon to replace my 2011 wagon

My review of the Colorado Diesel pickup is on the newsstand now in the May/June issue of Ultimate Diesel Builder's Guide magazine.

Look for the review and tell me what you think after you read it.

I can say that I was VERY impressed with the truck!!!:D:eek::D:eek:

I haven't read your review yet Chris, but I have driven one. It was just a standard test drive of roughly 15-20 minutes. It was a brand new truck with maybe 10 miles on it. I have already driven the gas model so I knew what the truck was like already. The diesel was amazing. Rode great and had gobs of power down low. Seemed night and day compared to the gas truck. If I get rid of my car this will be for sure a contender to replace it. I would like to drive a EcoDiesel to compare though. Had to find in my area right now.

Thanks, we work very hard to put out a quality book!!! That issue was themed toward truck audio/video systems and such so the feature trucks all had big sound systems in them...

The next issue has a work truck theme. We are finishing it and sending it to the printer as I type this...

I'd consider buying the GMC but the entry price is just too high. Good looking though.
Yes they are steep, at least as far as sticker price is concerned. I wonder what they will actually sell for once there are a few on the lots in a few more months...

I would think a CPO in a year or two would be a great truck at a good price... Let someone else take the depreciation hit and then buy CPO to get good B2B warranty still! That's what I did with the Cruze Diesel we bought.:D

Have they resolved the massive engine failures I read about with the Ecodiesel V6's? I was on the RAM truck forum and saw some ugly connecting rod failures with the first year diesels.

Those images are from one guy who subjected his truck to abuse. I forget the details, but I know folks here say he's not in any way representative of the experience owners are having with these trucks. There are over 100K of them in service already and we receive almost no repair inquiries about them.

Thanks, somehow, I remember reading some threads on the Ecodiesel forums about mechanical engine problems in engines that had less than 20K miles on them. That was a while ago and like you say, probably related to certain individuals who abused the trucks.

Nice to hear the engines are not having those issues, but now I wonder if they are suffering from the same emissions equipment failures that VW TDI's are experiencing (DPF failures in particular). The problem with these auto forums is the threads seem to focus on problems and issues and it's hard to get a feel for the "whole picture" so to say. Granted the truck/engine has only been out for a few years so it may be too soon to test longevity.

No emissions equipment issues, but as you say it's early. Corey (cevans on the club) at IDParts has one and likes it a lot. He just got a Green Diesel ecotune on it and got 34 MPG driving to NJ and back last weekend, averaging about 70 MPH. Not bad.

I spent a couple of days in the oilfield last year with a worker who had one. I thought it was pretty nice but I didn't drive it and we rarely were on real paved roads. The only thing I saw that was odd was the round knob type gear selector. Strange.

I'm "truckless" now; sold my 2002 RAM with 240K miles on it last year as it had seen better days and the transmission was on the way out. One of these would be nice long term if I can get a deal on my 2014 Passat from VW (if they don't have a fix for it). 34 MPG is not too shabby for a good size truck.

I was never a fan of the knob shifter either.

I saw my first Colorado Duramax yesterday. Good looking rig, but they sure have gotten big. It's almost as big as a 1500. It was quiet when it crossed the intersection in front of me.
