Anyone have the scoop on what changes we can expect on the '05 TDI Jetta/Golf/NB?

Well the 04 got some minor changes, the trunk, the chrome accents, the tailights. I don't think much more changes for 05 - but for sure the 05's may have some revisions to the computer calibrations.

Anyone have the scoop on what changes we can expect on the '05 TDI Jetta/Golf/NB?

I am in the market for a new Jetta (and possible/probably a TDI) and I asked the salesdude and he showed me but I have forgotten. I am going to try to go in and drive the TDI and I will try to remember to ask again. What I do recall was that there were only very minor changes. But Would they make major changes mid-year? I keep seeing people mention a '99.5' MO TDI and I don't know.

From what I understand (applies to Jetta only) the TDI is only going to be available on GLS.

I believe '05 is only going to be a half year, rumor is that the MKV Jetta is going to be released around Mar '05 as a '05.5. Its going to be slim pickings until the MKV arrives.

Jetta GL--TDI No longer available
Jetta GLS-TDI available in Sept.
Jetta Wagon GL TDI--available in Aug.
Jetta Wagon GLS TDI-available in Aug.
New body style Jettas will be out in spring of next year, we'll lose the Jetta Wagon. Jetta TDI's will be available approx. 6 months after the initial release of the new body style.


Golf GL and GLS TDI's still will be available in Sept. No changes until Spring of '06.

Beetle GL TDI no longer available.
Beetle GLS TDI available in Sept.
Only changes: color options. (Now tornado red, no blue lagoon)

Thanks airbeat! Do you know of any changes to the ECU? It sounds like the cars will be the same except for the absence of the GL trim level. I was asking to see if there were any changes in equipment levels that would make an '05 more appealing than an '04.

Is that losing the Jetta Wagon permanent? I hadn't heard that the wagon would be completely discontinued with the new style. If so, I'm glad we got our 04 before they go away.

I've heard that the Wagons will go away completely, but I asked the rep the other day, and it may not be that concrete...we'll just have to wait and see on that one. Not sure about ECU either--they only tell the techs about that. As far as I can tell, it should be identical to the current models.

As far as I can tell, there's no reason at all to wait for an '05, unless you're going to go with a Jetta. Then, you may want to wait the year for the TDI new body Jettas to come out. Otherwise, go ahead and get one now--while the owner loyalty is still in effect (it expires at the end of aug.)
