Change name on phone on MFI

Bought car used and previous owner's name was listed for phone connection in bluetooth. I found out how to delete that but mine shows up as numbers and whatever. Tried to change the name but just can't seem to get it done.
I can get the first letter of my name in there and then, well not so much luck after that.
Any help out there?

Mine used the name I set on my phone. That was set on the phone and not on the MFD. So on an iPhone you go to settings, general, about and the first option is Name. What I enter there shows on my MFD.

On an Android I think the setting is in Settings>About device>Device Name

Apparently it's using my Bluetooth address number.I'd think you'd have to change name in MFD

It uses whatever the name of the device was when you first connected that phone to that profile. I'd do what is suggested above, delete the profile, change the name on the phone, and then reconnect it to the car.

Motorola RAZR M. Latest Jelly Bean OS available to it(4.1.2).

The options above are not available to me. I did change the phone name in Bluetooth on the phone itself. Haven't re-paired the phone however.

On my '11 I had to delete two phones from the previous owner. When I then paired mine it has my phones name. I'd delete the previous owners name, why let the car search for it instead of finding yours?
