Has anyone tried to install a centrifuge oil filter system?
I have one from dieselcraft. It was going to go on my pickup. Rust and time make fools of us all.
I got my 2014 passat and thought it would be awesome, but I could not see anywhere I could mount it.
Fast forward 3 years, the adblue tank fell off, .
It looks like I would have room there, I am going to experiment with a "micropump" brand. It is magnetic drive so no shaft seal to ever leak. If it works during bench testing my plan is, use heavy steel braided hoses and go from the oil pan drain, back to where the def tank was.
Hook that to the pump, then to the dieselcraft oc-25. Then back to the engine. The oc-25 I got has a small air pump that will keep the can filled with air and push the oil uphill, not requiring a large unrestricted drain. Either in the oil cap using the "insane diesel" cap from there bypass system, or maybe sometime later, if I ever need to remove the cam cover, I can drill and install a bulkhead fitting in the cam cover.
Possibly even into the oil pan.
I want to atleast install a bypass oil filter, but the centrifuge is better, but I don't think taking that much oil away from the engine pump is wise, that's why I am going to experiment with the micro pump.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried any bypass or centrifugal filters on a passat.
Also if anyone would be interested in how mine turns out.
I don't want anyone telling me I don't need it. I know that, I want it. Cleaner oil is better for the engine. I don't plan on extending my service interval. I plan on extending the life of the engine.
