ToastyJosh,

I have never had work done by Konstruct, Brody at Speedlab in Albq has done lots of good work for my 2002 Jetta TDI. I have been very
pleased with his work.

Doing a G60 / VR6 clutch in the Golf tomorrow..

Also gonna drop in a Boraparts 5 speed .658 gear mod.. (Couldnt afford RyanP's 6 speed upgrade.... :( bummed...)

Clutch started slipping once I put the Kerma DLC1019 nozzles in.. Not even a tune - yet.. :)

VR6 / G60 clutch and .658 5th gear DONE

..........Getting there.....

Kerma's DLC1019's are cleaning up tremendously... (150HP, 216um nozzles) .........I like these a LOT... My stock injectors must have been hosed.! (tons of smoke, power was... "meh"...) I took advantage of Kerma's calibrated, "hot-swap" option.. HIGHLY recommended...! Now I gotta get going on a tune... (shooting for economy with this TDi... for now...)

VR6 / G60 clutch kit seems to be holding up just fine to the 1019's.. 3rd gear pulls and no slipping....! Again.. . . For now.. Forgot how much fun a clutch swap was. ;)

.658 5th gear is &*^@$%#$ EPIC.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe I waited this long to get it done, but I am stoked beyond words. For those who have stumbled across this thread, searching for some driveability notes: (BTW - go for it...! Boraparts has 'em in stock)
  • 40-45 mph crusing in 5th on a flat road is fine. 1200-1400 RPM. I was worried it would drop WAY too low. It holds 45-50 mph on a mild grade, but any serious 45 mph hills require 4th gear to accelerate. Or just hold it at 52. :D
  • 60-65 mph is perfect. ~1750 - 2000 RPM. Pulls cleanly to 75 / 80 mph for passing. I think the 1019's have me spoiled here...
I did think about the .681 gear - but gambled on "a little more". I'm glad I did..! Would probably be happy with a .681 - but would have wondered if I shoulda went .658.. I'd be in heaven with a 6 speed that had either a double over drive, or .700 / .658 5th / 6th gears...

Will post something similar in the transmission forum....

Another NM TDI owner. Will be doing a cam soon on BRM motor. I also have the VCDS for 05 and newer VW's. I had Forein Aide do my last timing belt. ummmm, I don't think they use a VCDS. My torsion was wayyyy off. Car runs great now and fuel mileage improved taboot.

I don't have the Vag-com, but I wanted to mention that I just had my timing belt done (265K) on my 2002 Golf at Hans Wittler's. $1100. Good thing about this is they discovered a cam seal leak and replaced that while in there. These guys are good and know our TDI's...:)

Thank you for the recommendation! I think that might have been the only place I didn't call while I shopped around before I decided to order my kit and brave it on my own. Thanks again!

You should have no problem doing it with good directions and tools. I did mine w/o vagcom and it's a 2005.
Good luck.

They do a great job over at Hans Wittler, I'll let no one else in ABQ touch my engine. Ask for Andreas...
Good luck with it!

I will eventually, being a PD and all. I observed lobe wear 20k miles ago and expected lifter noise, but all is quiet. Using Rotella T6 may be helping.
I'll PM you with an email address, thanx.

Anyone have compression testing tools up in La 'Burque area? Wrecked my Jetta "all sick" and I'd like to run some tests on the engine before I scrap it. PM if you have them or know where to get them.
