Answer to your question...No..I got the last package two in the country (I believe). The dealer in Penn. had it for invoice 26K. It was also the color I wanted. In ABQ the diesel special edition (between a package one and two, less the temp control) was going for 28K, also only three in stock black, black and grey. I did the breakin on the way back....kind of sucked no steady RPM...yikes.

Better to get what you want than regret not doing so. Good job on the break in, some folks just put it on cruise and drive across country.

I usually don't scan this section of the forum and so just saw this post. We're in Rio Rancho and have an '02 Jetta TDI. The only mods done to it are to fix known VW issues:mad: , great car once you get past that fine German engineering.:p

No problem there. I actually wrench at another, higher-end shop.

Finally got my $1500 cream puff going - rebuilt VWOA trans, new rear axle, Bilstein TC strut kit w/VR6 springs, lift kit, suv tires and all sorts of maintanence.

Welcome to Romi in Rio Rancho. That German engineering keeps me busy...

I don't watch the forum real closely, either. Two TDIs here: NB and Jetta. I went to Texas to get the NB so I could get the options and color I wanted. The drive home was glorious!

Rustwagen, which shop do you work at? PM if you prefer. We're still looking for a good shop to do the work I can't do, especially after the TB install that we had done:mad: I hate the the dealer here in town, U.V. so that is out.

Welcome Beeble - most of the locals I know think leaving Texas in any kind of vehicle is glorious ;).

I live 24 miles north of New Mexico off 84 north, does that take me out of visiting ALBQ?

Once your group gets the GTG goooing*..., I would like to come and use about 4.3+/- gallons getting there.
I would enjoy another GTG in the area :) .

Hi Travis
Hi Linc

*Goooing is because the lot of you is taking a looong time getting this GTG happenin'

Did my first Timing Belt change this weekend on the Black Jetta. All went well though it did take me about 6 hours. I took it slow...took photos and all. Great info on the forum here... couldn't have done it without the great how-to's. Had 94k on the original belt. It still looked good with minimal cracking. Will be doing the white jetta over the thanksgiving holiday. Luv my TDI. Dieselheads unite :)

Of course you can visit if and when we have a GTG. I was up in Pagosa/WC area camping and fishing a few weeks ago and also enjoyed some PBC brew.

You know, the only "trusted mechanic" listed in the thread here (http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=130044) is in Santa Fe. If you're not in that shop, would you please let us know where you are? I haven't had any problems with UVW (yet), but it's really nice to have choices, and right now the dealer is the only choice I know about.

Just joined today. Don't have a TDI yet. Am interested in a high mileage diesel wagon and pushing the mileage up from stock. Read with interest the thread about larger dia. tires. I have a 95 acura with 65 instead of 55 profile tires and get @ 3 mpg better mileage. I wish I could lower the RPM at 60 in my F250 power stroke with gearing or tires but it dosen't seem doable.

I have larger tires on my F250 PSD...problem is the speedo and tach go hand in hand until you recalibrate your speedo to the bigger tires. That should show a lower rpm based on the percent change in tire diameter. Not sure I gained mpg, but did gain ground clearance for sure.

Yup, brought home a pitcher to go, but it didn't last very long. I was there for the Octoberfest first day, were you?

Who carries glow plugs in Albuquerque or Santa Fe besides the dealer. I tried Napa but they have to order them. Are there any VW shops around that carry them in stock?

I took the jetta to the dealer for the third time to get the brake switch replaced. This is still a recall item. You would think they would make a switch that lasts. What happened to the so-called german engineering!

Yea, I ordered 4 from tdiparts.com for $60 last year and put them on the black jetta. I wanted to replace them on the white jetta this weekend and thought I could find them here in town without going to the dealer.
