Mods, please make this a sticky so I can easily point people here.

When (not if) your CBEA or CJAA car flags the DTCs P2002, P0401, and sometimes P240F, and your car will have sooty tailpipes, YOUR DPF HAS FAILED. It is BROKEN. It cannot be cleaned. It will need to be replaced.

This is the current parts list:

1K0-254-708-GX DPF pipe assembly
03G-131-547-H gasket
1K0-253-725 x2 clamps
1K0-253-115-AE gasket
1K0-253-115-AG gasket
1K0-253-115-T gasket
1K0-253-120-B EGR pipe
1K0-253-725-F clamp

There will be a core on the DPF itself, so plan on that part being refunded when you bring it back.

You will not only need to clear the DTCs, but you will need to reset the ECU's value for the new DPF. You need a suitable scan tool to do this. Then, if you need readiness to be set, you will need to drive the car for a while... sometimes over 1000 miles.

Are any of the affected / applicable cars still potentially under the dieselgate settlement warranty?

Fewer and fewer every day. And lots of them already have had a DPF replaced already.
I got lucky and my girlfriend's car has just a hair over 5,000 miles left. But yeah, I don't think that many people still have time on that extended warranty.

I didn’t take the vw fix Or cash so it’s still cheating 😂
Ditto on my 2013.

I have P2002 and P0401, so I will be needing to replace my DPF
However, I can't find a couple of parts on this list.
These two parts, 1K0253115AG and 1K0253725F do not come up when I do a search
All the other parts I can find on IdParts, which seems to have the lowest prices.

Work for me. *shrug*. Google them. Your local dealer has them all on the shelf, unless they just ran out.

Is removing the DPF and EGR and replacing with pre-routed pipe something that is even discussed here? I'm having difficulty finding posts related to this. One of the main reasons I recently joined is to find information on this. I want to do the work myself, except the required tune. I live in Texas so emissions inspection isn't a problem.

its taboo because its illegal . the EPA is watching . and they have put millions of dollars into enforcement. and yet all oiver the forums and facebook people are calling out their tuners and suppliers . and announcing they have deleted cars . its a bad bad deal. thgere will be repercussions in the future .

Yep, it is called a delete... and yes, it is illegal. Just like an EGR delete that TDI owners did about ten minutes after the first TDIs left the dealer lots back in the '90s, LOL. EPA hasn't caught any of us yet.

Because they choose to go after the suppliers for the most part, unless you bring yourself to their attention. Few would do this if they had to manufacture their own stuff and develop their own programming. Kill off the suppliers and the problem mostly goes away.

Plenty of posts here on this already. Hard to believe you couldn't find any. Many suppliers and tuners also discussed. Probably find lots on youtube as well, including instructions. Be sure of all the ramifications before you jump though.

Thanks. I surely didn't look hard enough and/or am looking in the wrong places. I will continue the search. Have found lots of You Tube material, and in fact will likely purchase a pre-formed pipe kit with instructions for this job from someone on You Tube. Yes, ramifications are a concern I will pay close attention to. I've heard engine & turbo will work harder with possible temp issues but have also heard engine will run cooler. Must be careful with online information. Thanks. Round Rock, cool! Right down the street from me. Nice area before entering the chaos of Austin, which I liked a lot more 20+ years ago.

@oilhammer ... On dieselgate tunes, what kind of miles are you seeing between changing DPF'S?

It's all over the place... and this was an issue BEFORE any changes, so it isn't like you can tune them back and avoid it.

Of the two here now, one has 183k miles, the other only has 117k. The 2010 I own bought from a customer is on its second DPF replacement (so #3 since it left the factory) at 312k miles. It won't get a fourth....

I think if I needed an ambulance to get me to somewhere in an emergency, I'd want it to be reliable and not go into limp mode or light up a bunch of warning lamps on the dash. Just sayin... :p

We have a customer, an electrician, who uses an older E350 ambulance repurposed as his mobile shop and rolling toolbox. Old IDI non-turbo 7.3L. Reliable as the sun, we just put a new set of tires on it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated !

2014 Jetta sport wagon with 119,000 miles emissions warranty expires at 120,000 miles . Check engine light is on with code p2002 dropped car off at dealer and there saying it needs a new thermostat to resolve the check engine light at a cost of $1400 dollars not covered under the emissions warranty. VOA has been no help and sided with dealer . Dealer also says that I will need a new dpf down the road could be a month or a year even after the replacement of the thermostat. Are they trying to pull a fast one has any had this issue with the thermostat ?

Thanks in advance for your help ..

DPF and egr was just replaced a year ago under warranty . I do drive a lot all highway 30,000 in a year . I never had issues with warranty work at this dealer but this time I feel like they’re getting a little outta hand with pricing . Cars been sitting at the dealer for a month now while I go back and forth with VOA. Bad thing is the Jetta is the Sedan model where it doesn’t even have a temp gauge to see if it was actually bad ..

Well I have all these issues so I had my DPF replaced. Let’s hope that was the issue.

CJAA thermostat is 2.7hr labor, although I would usually replace the coolant pipe as well. Either way, it is a fairly big job. The part is about $45.

The thermostat should be covered, but some dealers weasel out of that one because it is specifically called out.
