So I finally got around to installing my CAT fuel filter from Greg at http://lubricationspecialist.com/front/shop.aspx and I must say "Thanks!" to him for getting it shipped in just over 3 days; ordered Monday evening, arrived Friday noon, installed tonight!
No pics yet, it was dark out, but I will take some and add them under my member profile (you'd think a "veteran" would've learned to post pics in a thread by now).
The current OEM filter had almost 10K miles on it, but I didn't want to put off the CAT filter any longer. 2 micron filtration HAS to be better for my sensitive PD's injectors than the OEM filter, just HAS to .
All in all, pretty easy install, didn't need any special tools or instructions. If you've changed a fuel filter before, this is no different except that now there is a yellow filter in there now. I plan to keep this one for about 40K miles, or until I notice a drop in performance/economy close to that range of miles.
In a few weeks I'll be doing the DG oil bypass filter as well. I'll be taking an oil sample then to send off for analysis, just to get an idea of how my engine has been doing these past 66k miles on 505.01 oil. I've also ordered 6L of M1 5w30 ESP (VW507) from avlube.com and will be doing an engine flush before installing the bypass and the new oil. I'll take pictures of that as well, for you visual types.
Again, big thanks to Greg for his outstanding product. Now to see if I develop any leaks down the road. So far so good.
