So I finally got around to installing my CAT fuel filter from Greg at http://lubricationspecialist.com/front/shop.aspx and I must say "Thanks!" to him for getting it shipped in just over 3 days; ordered Monday evening, arrived Friday noon, installed tonight!

No pics yet, it was dark out, but I will take some and add them under my member profile (you'd think a "veteran" would've learned to post pics in a thread by now:rolleyes:).

The current OEM filter had almost 10K miles on it, but I didn't want to put off the CAT filter any longer. 2 micron filtration HAS to be better for my sensitive PD's injectors than the OEM filter, just HAS to :D.

All in all, pretty easy install, didn't need any special tools or instructions. If you've changed a fuel filter before, this is no different except that now there is a yellow filter in there now. I plan to keep this one for about 40K miles, or until I notice a drop in performance/economy close to that range of miles.

In a few weeks I'll be doing the DG oil bypass filter as well. I'll be taking an oil sample then to send off for analysis, just to get an idea of how my engine has been doing these past 66k miles on 505.01 oil. I've also ordered 6L of M1 5w30 ESP (VW507) from avlube.com and will be doing an engine flush before installing the bypass and the new oil. I'll take pictures of that as well, for you visual types.

Again, big thanks to Greg for his outstanding product. Now to see if I develop any leaks down the road. So far so good.

How solidly is it mounted? Is it as solid as the stock filter installation?

Did anyone notice the Jeep CRD Cat 2 setup on the same web page. It has some electrical contacts on it. Might those be to monitor presure drop across the filter?

It sits in the stock location, just that it is slightly wider than the OEM, that's why the butterfly-type tightening screw/clasps thingy is included in the kit. From my observations, it tightens well and doesn't sit up any higher than the stock filter. The hood closes as before, the fuel lines are in the same positions and everything works well. I pulled fuel through with my MityVac and connected everything back up, checked for leaks and drove around, checked for leaks again and all is well. Those 2 tightening bolts are 19mm and have to be snug so no fuel gets past the seal. The thermo-T is held very well by that metal bracket, seems more secure than the OEM Mickey Mouse clip. So for as good.

I will take pics and post them in my member's pictures page.
