Carbon Build Up

Do the 2011 Jetta TDI's have variable vanes in the turbo? What controls boost? Im curious if carbon builds up on the egr, intake, or turbo vanes over time? About at how many miles should I expect them to need to be cleaned?

Yes, VGT...No build up..Very clean burning diesel, even with 2 EGR systems..

no build up should happen, but it all depends on how you drive it, many here have had very little issues with carbon junk in the intakes and VGTs, but yet again not too many people have more than 60,000miles on their cars so it's still kinda hard to say how these systems will hold up.

You should be more concerned about one of the sensors heading south than carbon build up.
