Car sounds like a tea pot

My car has started whistling when I accelerate and the pitch gets higher/louder as the RPMs go up. I suspect it's a cracked EGR pipe and I was wondering if putting in a race pipe would get rid of the noise. Since the EGR wouldn't be in use anymore there shouldn't be any air going through it, right?

If the race pipe isn't enough then I may just do a complete EGR delete, the settings in my ECU were already modded over 100k miles ago so I'm not too worried about a CEL.

Any way, I'd appreciate any advice.

2005 PD, 105k miles. Same thing here. loud noise at above 15 PSI and 2k-3k RPM's. I will have to take a look at the exhaust.

EGR is blocked off, wondering if by chance the EGR block-off is leaking.

You'll have to replace the lower flex hose from turbo to egr cooler. Easy to do. They crack frequently. You could put a block off plate on instead and not worry about it ever again. A good tune will eliminate a CEL.

I finally took my car to my mechanic (check signature). They got me in right away and diagnosed it as a crack in the valve that controls the intake manifold flapper. I have no idea what this is called or the part number. If anyone has the part number I would love it. It is not the one by the EGR but the one by the intake piping (from air filter).

Real solution:

Alright I finally took my car to a mechanic (my sig). They checked the turbo shaft for play, nothing major there. Turns out it is the VNT actuator. It is tough to move and when the vacuum line is removed from the turbo the noise does not happen anymore. So it sounds like I will be removing the turbo and doing a full cleaning on the VNT.

Maybe this will help someone else.
