Car Cover Installation question

Can I put a car cover on my car while there is still some ice on the car? There's a snow storm brewing for Saturday night and I really want to get it covered up if possible. I bought a Wolf Noah cover, which is supposed to allow water to evaporate but protect from rain and snow.

Go ahead and cover the car. I have a similar cover for my P/U and cover it even if it's wet from rain. never had a problem with it drying out.

Note that one person is about to have a blizzard in the northeast, and the other is in sunny honolulu.

The water isn't going to evaporate in this cold. If the ice melts and refreezes, then your cover is going to be stuck to your car.

Ah but the question is, is it better to have a car cover stuck to the car or have 10 inches of additional snow on the car that could eventually melt and leak into the interior if the cover isn't on.

You can scrape the snow off without much of a problem... you can't get a frozen cover off without somehow heating up the car or waiting for warmer weather.

Do you have a problem with your interior leaking?

Yep, both VW's in fact. At least the Golf drives so i can dry it out. The B4V hasn't really been driven since September since it takes on water and is leaking various fluids. No mechanics in sight for a rescue so I have been advised to cover it up till Spring.

Well, if you don't mind potentially being frozen out of your car for a little while, I guess cover it up and keep the interior from getting wet.

Or see if you can melt the ice and dry it off before putting the cover on.
