When I start my 2015 beetle(mt) I need to depress clutch pedal. But if I want to pull start it in case when the starter is dead this will not work.

I believe however that the ecu will generate injector pulses when it sees rpms from the crank position sensor regardless of the clutch. And the car should start. But I wonder if anyone have tested that?

I'm hoping you mean bump start, and yes it can be done if no other way to start it. Go down a hill put it in second and pop the clutch and it will run.

With the ignition in the "on" /"run" position.

I've always been told 3rd for roll starting, but it's been years since that info.

What gear you select really depends on how fast the car is going. I’ve used 1st (in gassers) on flat ground with only one person to push before.

The clutch switch locks out the starter from cranking the engine, it does not prevent the engine from running obviously or else the engine would shut down with the clutch engaged.

And don't just dump the clutch. Get it rolling, raise the clutch pedal and immediately push it back down. You just need to turn the motor over a compression stroke or two. That way the car doesn't lurch along at too low a speed.

It's push start, not pull. If you pull it, you'll get run over by it :oops:o_O
