If you're only goal in life is to carry a gun, come to Alaska. I'm the only person at my job who does NOT carry a gun. Many actually keep guns in their toolboxes, at work. There is no permitting process either.
Sure hope you are good friends with all your co-workers . Who said anything about "....only goal in life is to carry a gun"?FL2AK-tdi said:If you're only goal in life is to carry a gun, come to Alaska. I'm the only person at my job who does NOT carry a gun. LOL, I'm not. There i only one person Iwork with who would consider a safety or security risk..a violent person. He has a lot of guns but he tens to use a coffee cup as his preferred weapon against co-workers. (True story)aja8888 said:Sure hope you are good friends with all your co-workers .
And that is your clearly-defined Constitutional right.aja8888 said:Who said anything about "....only goal in life is to carry a gun"?
I don't "carry" my gun on me. It is for home protection.
I know, but if you check it, the Constitution is being slowly phased out since many in office see it a being out of date with their (personal goals).FL2AK-tdi said:And that is your clearly-defined Constitutional right.
Stop with the Cheney-Bush bashing already. They're out of office. BTW: has anyone seen the original copy of the constitution since Cheney wiped his butt with it and have they restored it yet?aja8888 said:I know, but if you check it, the Constitution is being slowly phased out since many in office see it a being out of date with their (personal goals).
Nick: I seriously don't mean to be bashing anybody in particular. I am too freaking old to worry about who/what/why. I'm just stating what is in the process of happening, and it's been happening for a very long time. Let's see, what was this thread originally about?nicklockard said:Stop with the Cheney-Bush bashing already. They're out of office. LOL, is this the new new NEW off topic thread now

It's amazing how many people enjoy the educational link. I've gotten half a dozen PM's about it and about as many thread comments. I still have a bruise from my chin hitting the floor.aja8888 said:BTW: that link to Money as Debt is one I have passed to my friends and family members. Good stuff and true.
Tony
Nope nope. If we're talking bigger, I win. You can divide Alaska in half and still have two states bigger than Texas. Alaska equals 1/3 the land mass of the U.S.nicklockard said:and who's state is better/bigger(you win)...
Silly Mikey, EVERYONE knows Tejas is ALWAYS bigger, always better than anything else. Tejas is a state of mindFL2AK-tdi said:Nope nope. If we're talking bigger, I win. You can divide Alaska in half and still have two states bigger than Texas. Alaska equals 1/3 the land mass of the U.S.
If we're talking better, well, that is just too subjective of a criteria. Although I've lived in Texas and Alaska and hope never to return to Texas.
*Sigh* Let's not confuse anyone with the facts, shall we?nicklockard said:Silly Mikey, EVERYONE knows Tejas is ALWAYS bigger, always better than anything else. Tejas is a state of mind
California appears to be suffering a drought in periods, or has a lower grammar requirement than the rest of the union.MAXRPM said:All the people living in other states wish they had the same economy and the Calif weather, how could you even dare to compare the tundra Idaho to Calif, please be real, besides having the 7th largest economy in the whole WORLD, , this is a state that has all you ask for and more, rivers, lakes, snow, desserts, oceans, national parks, mountains, and the most cultural diverse state as well, Calif will always outshine any other state period, all I read here is jelousy about this beautiful state,, next time please read up get the facts on it before you even intend to bash it.
I concur.grizzlydiesel said:Honestly, i think this is getting pretty dumb. Ive been all over the country, and found something about every state that was unique and that i loved. Maryland has its blue crab, Vermont has its maple syrup and polar bear swimming, Virginia has the skyline drive and its hard to beat for beauty in fall, the Carolinas have such beautiful women, Florida has the gulf, and awesome hurricane parties, Montana just has a magical way of making you feel free, Cali has awesome surfing and the redwood forests, Oregon manages to be a super friendly place despite the constant rain, New york........ well new york is a place you have to visit... and then take a shower
but yall get the idea. seriously, in a time when everyone is supposed to be patriotic about their country, all this infighting is pretty sad.

ok, that was funnyFL2AK-tdi said:Give him a break, English is not their first language.
159 years ago California became a state. There was no electricity. The government was broke. Almost everyone spoke Spanish. There were gunfights in the streets. So essentially nothing has changed, except back then all women had real boobs, and most men didn't hold hands. So much for progress.FL2AK-tdi said:Give him a break, English is not their first language.
Candidate for post of the week right here.visionlogic said:159 years ago California became a state. There was no electricity. The government was broke. Almost everyone spoke Spanish. I'm glad you put that wink at the end, 'cause Alabama isn't the model state for education, civil rights, etc... so I'm gonna talk up both CA and AL.visionlogic said:159 years ago California became a state. When I was nine, a friend of the family got the three of us (my brother and sister stayed with my grandparents) into Canaveral for a shuttle landing. We were in/along the landing path, about four miles from the strip, when it came down.grizzlydiesel said:oh and i almost forgot....... i almost got to see this once, and its one of the biggest regrets in my life that i missed it.
FL - Cape Canaveral, shuttle launches.
my brother works for NRL, and had an experiment go up, so we flew down to watch the shuttle launch, we were at the 3 mile marker, a full mile or more closer than the regular civilian limit, and the shuttle launch was scrubbed due to a fuel level sensor acting up. one of the biggest let downs of my life. still want to get down to see, and photograph that.
Nice post! Appreciate the humor.visionlogic said:159 years ago California became a state. There was no electricity. The government was broke. Almost everyone spoke Spanish. *cough* moonshine *cough*TurbinePower said:South Carolina, unfortunately, is simply an agrarian, semi-industrializing state, not a tourist resort.
I don't know if the moonshine runners were running it in their tanks, but they were certainly hauling a lot of it and making good money, at that time, for each run. Most of the first nascar drivers were moonshine haulers.grizzlydiesel said:*cough* moonshine *cough*
which oddley enough was the first alternative fuel, the ford model T was designed to run on alcohol, namely moonshine, because the gasoline fueling infrastructure didnt exist. and anyone that owned a car had to make his/her own fuel. pretty cool eh? also where nascar got its start, moonshiners running the white lighting in the tank for an added boost to performance.
After a dozen or so launches, it gets boring. I saw the Challenger explode in real time. (IE not on a tv screen) I was watching it on the school football field. To show how boring and routine launches got by that time, I was the only one watching it. Everyone else was just inside doing math. SO I got to be th one to come in to calss and announce it. (My 15 mins of glory lol)grizzlydiesel said:oh and i almost forgot....... i almost got to see this once, and its one of the biggest regrets in my life that i missed it.
