Went very quickly. I chose EFT and according to VW should receive an email from Chase within 3 business days.

No dealer sales pitch or anything. The dealer staff directed us to the settlement specialist who was very courteous and professional.

The last part is for me to get my EFT. We will see how long that takes.

I was a little sad parting with my car...but it was the best thing. I will miss all the fun I had owning diesels but I am ready to move forward.

I certainly hope we get the EFT sooner, rather than later, as the sister (Chevy) dealership to the VW one, is itching to cash the personal check I wrote for the beautiful mint condition 2014 Chevy Cruze LT1 (w/ 1.4L turbo) that had a mere 25,046 miles on it!!! :D

I also returned the car on the 23rd. The specialist said it would take until probably Wednesday for the EFT. Still waiting on an email from Chase.

This is great. We will be in the same place in two years when we turn our Passat in. Our first and only diesel has been a fun and informative experience, and I hope we can move forward as well.

Luckily you didn't get the sales pitch. I was greeted by the sales guy as soon as I told the reception I was there for a buy-back. I quickly informed him to cut the crap and let's get this over with. They tried to stick me with him again on the way out and I kept walking to my car [which is also waiting on buyback]. Very tacky..

I didn't really get that reception although I was prepared for it. I would have gone through my list of things of why I wouldn't have bought another VW but specifically I would have told them that even if I was buying another one, I wouldn't buy from them given how they treated me when I had warrantee issues, loyalty card issues, etc. They never once helped me on pretty straight forward things and VWofA was almost as bad.

For me it was different. There was a greeter for TDI owners who worked for the dealership but he quickly introduced me to the rep. The rep took me to a different part of the building away from the sales floor. He stated up front that he's a contractor for VW and does not work directly for them. Then he said "by meeting away from the sales floor there was no pressure from the sales department. After were done you can go out multiple ways without going through the sales floor or you can choose to go in and talk to them". No pressure at all, I went to my vehicle yo get my plates which the greeter handed to me and that was all.

Our buyback was completed on Friday 12-23. We were greeted by a salesman as we entered. Said we were there for the buyback. His first question was, "so, do you know what you will be doing for a replacement vehicle?" I said yes, we already bought a Honda Accord Touring and we couldn't be happier. We did not see him again. Had to take my own plates off the Passat.

Buyback Payment Transferred to Bank

Buyback appointment was scheduled for 6pm on 12/27/16. Showed up to the dealership early at 4:15pm and the Specialist met me and processed everything within 12 minutes!!!!
My Buyback was completed yesterday 12/27/16 at 4:28pm PST. Just received my Chase EFT email to transfer funds today 12/28/16 at 5:26pm PST. Process was very fast. It is almost over now and I am very happy.
Chase EFT was in my checking account in less than 11 hours after I entered my bank info. This was the fastest and best part of the whole process. Extremely Fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT IS OVER NOW. :)

Identical to mine.....except EST 8:26. I now know why Chase is waiting until 8:30 to send the e-mail. It says that if you are a Chase account holder and the account is setup before 8pm, it will go in the following morning. If it is after 8, it will add another business day.

I initially thought the same, but that has not been the case. If you respond immediately, you should receive a deposit in your account the next morning based on my experience as well as that of many others. The Chase EFT appears to be the one thing in this entire process that happens on time (assuming that you get the initial e-mail from Chase, that is).

That would be nice. My work is closing Fri instead of Mon. I can go car shopping before the end of the year.

We arrived at our buyback about 2:05, ahead of our 2:30 appointment on the 22nd.

Sales guys were there. Told them we were going to pick up a Miata the next day. They asked whether that replaced the Jetta. Said, "No, it's for fun." The Mazda3 bought back in September replaced the Jetta.

We had the check in the bank before our scheduled appointment. It cleared a couple days later.
