Now I've known that manager very well for four years so I'll take his word over yours!
You don't have to take anyone's word; the settlement documents are readily available for you to review and see for yourself that there is no such provision. Or not.

Took ours off at home w a heat gun, will do the same for #2. The sticker part was still on the car, looked like it was still there. Been toying with mounting the two take offs on the Touareg as they made it possible, might be funny with 3 TDI emblems on the back hatch.

In contrast to "road killed, half wrecked, goat filled, sun faded, junkolllas ~~~ whats the diff:confused:

No, in contrast to why you gotta front?

I give props to wilcharl for being the first buyback, but for the life of me why would somebody want to unnecessarily provoke a confrontation. Keep your f cking badge, but do that sh t at home.

My buyback is scheduled one week from tomorrow. I will be sure to post my observations but I expect it to be a pretty uneventful handover.

Yes, agreed ~~~ might have been less confrontational to do "IT" in private.

as for me, I have not yet made up my (feeble) mind about the fix or the BB

Both are good choices ~~ I guess. ~~ both ways I get more back than I paid for it ~~ :D

If I sell it back ~~ most likely it will be 99.9 % perfect in every way.

If I were to sell it to a private party, it would have a full tank of fuel ~~ not so, if I sell it back to vw ---- :D

Interesting experience at my turn-in at Pignataro VW in Everett, WA. I was there a few minutes early and waited patiently to meet Georgia the buyback Rep. She was extremely nice and had pre-filled all the paperwork, although I had done it as well. We chatted for a couple minutes and she mentioned she had done over 300 and was averaging 8-10 a day. The paperwork was done, had receipt, and all was good within a couple minutes.

The interesting part- she never looked at the car. Never checked to see if it was even there. Took my word on mileage. In fact, I had even forgotted to give her the keys and had to go back after done to give them to her. Talk about streamlining the process!

Done and done!

Strange. They are supposed to use their fancy tablets to take photos of car and the odometer etc as part of the case.

Both of ours the guy has gone out to take the pics. I don't think he tested that it ran. I guess he figured we got it there somehow.

just for the record, I took my TDI (skinny blue "I" with chrome "TD") badge off and left it inside in the driver's door storage bin.

Have you been paid yet

I turned my 2015 TDI Golf in a week ago. You get an email and enroll for electronic payment on a Chase website. Then you wait.

Chase account set up Friday. Today is Wednesday?

Anyone else have an issue?

Thanks

As part of that "account set up", did you enter the routing number and account number of the account you want the funds transferred to, and tell the website to transfer the funds there? If not, that would be your problem. If you did, suggest you call Chase--the email you got from them had a phone number.

Edit: But today is Tuesday, not Wednesday.

So this is final for me! Turned car in Wednesday Jan. 18 received email from Chase on Jan. 19 10:00 p.m. Didn't have time till 1:00 p.m. Jan. 20 Friday to fill out and submit info to Chase. Immediately got confirmation from Chase by email they received my info. Bank received money on the morning of Jan. 23 Monday after the weekend. I am a Chase customer so they were spot on when they would have the money transferred they did the transaction in one business day.

All in all it went very smooth it was just my patience with all this that made it almost unbearable, lol. This will be it. It's been fun I really appreciate the TDI site and it's members. I learned a lot and found great tips and how to's here. Hope everyone has as smooth transition or at least from here on out gets smoother! Moving on from TDIs!

I don't know why so many people still doing ETF. With check you don't have to wait.
No, you just have to go home with nothing, and reschedule, if the check turns out to be for too much. But with ETF, the buy back is completed, and the right amount gets deposited into your account.

But then I suppose some people like getting out of the house and going to do a TDi turn in.

Our buyback at Seacoast VW in Greenland, NH was completely painless. It fact it was a pleasure. The buyback specialist had us in and out of their in 15 minutes tops. He was pleasant. The car was not in nice shape condition wise (check engine light, flithy inside, smashed mirror taped together). But he didn't bat an eye or give us a hard time at all. I took the all weather mats and the trunk liner for a friends car. No problems there either.

I strongly recommend Seacoast VW for anyone in the are who still needs to schedule a buyback.

It was bittersweet for us. It was nice to have it over with but this was by far the best car we've ever had. 118k miles with no repairs except for tires, filters, oil changes. We had two warranty issues. One for a cluster at about 6k and one for an exhaust flap at maybe 80k or so. Thankfully we have located a replacement TDI and its a pretty nice machine. I'll post about that in another thread. Hopefully getting it Friday.

Buyback completed yesterday without any issue. Buyback specialist had all my documentation ready to go. Dealer rep took the car and verified it ran and the specialist took pictures and verified the mileage. Then it was just a matter of completing the paperwork.

It was a great car and perfect for that time of our life. We put over 20k a year with all of the traveling we did for work and vacations. Took it everywhere. My only gripes about the car were the small issues like the intake and exhaust flappers that you would think VW would have corrected. My only major issue was the HPFP self destructing out of warranty. It would be one thing if the pump went bad but it contaminated the entire fuel system.

So at this point all of the TDI's are gone, sorry to see it happen. This has been a great forum with a lot of collective knowledge, thanks for all the help.

Both my 2011 Golf and 2012 Sportwagen have been bought back by VW. It may be old news now, but the process was a little sketchy at first due to all the Online stuff that had to be done. But, once the ball got rolling I didn't have any problems and it went relatively smooth.

However, with that being said, I started the process along with everyone right in the beginning and stayed ontop of getting my submissions done and completed ASAP. The 2011 was bought back on 12/21/16 and the 2012 was bought back on 1/4/17. Each time I received my "Chase Email" before leaving the dealer and the money was in my account the following day.

I can only imagine the frustrations people are having now at this point because of all the vehicles being turned in... I opted to sell because of economics.. made no sense to keep it. My buddy delayed his paperwork and now has to wait till March to turn his in... It's a mess, but as they say, "The early bird gets the worm." Good luck to all of you..

Same place where it turned mine in.. I had even chatted with one of the salesmen prior to turn in. . And they were told to not even approach turn in folks... I think they could have done better servicing the customers... Oh well, its over and I can make it rain with the $44,000 cash i got in my pocket!!!!!!!

Turned my 2015 Passat into Frema VW in Goldsboro last night. Will be back there again to look at new vehicles in the future. They're a top notch organization.

The process was really smooth. He had all the paperwork pre-filled out waiting on a signature from me. Took some pictures and pulled the check out of a FedEx envelope. Grabbed my plate and I was gone. Bittersweet.

The dealership is also going to file my GAP refund paperwork for me when I get the final letter about the loan being paid in full.

Sorry Jetta

Just for fun, wonder what it would cost to buy one?
It's okay, thanks Okie !

It was fun removing those 3 infamous letters "TD+skinny blue I" :p

Rather than steal them, I simply debadged the car. They peeled off pretty easily.

The next owner (whom I will never meet) may at their discretion reattach the letters as I left them inside the driver's door carpeted storage bin where I would sometimes store a small water bottle.

Doubt the car ever gets used again, hopefully it will have a new owner. I did have to go back to the dealer as I forgot my Johnny Cash CD and tags which they were kind enough to give back.

I gave them back a very well maintained TDI. It ran pretty well, sure miss it sometimes.

ballsy:D

What was his words, attitude, look on his face, demeanor?
We were laughing.. I was the 1st buyback in the Mid-Atlantic, and the 15th car bought back in the world, so when he said is there anything left for you to get from the car and I was like , might as well take the TDI letters as a souvenir.

My 80 year old father has a 14 Tiguan and he was my ride home so I took his key popped it open and used it to loosen the letters enough that I could scrape them off.

They are laying in my toolbox and will be reglued to the side of my toolbox when I get a round tuit.

I guess if you enter the wrong mileage or drive a lot more miles than usual after scheduling your appointment and you were right up against the mileage bracket and you paid no consideration to when you enter your miles. Basically a lot of things would have to line up and you would have to bad at simple arithmetic as well.

We deposited our check on a Thursday morning and it had cleared on Friday morning.
