My update is that I don't have one.

Turned my car in two weeks ago and still no receipt. Hoping for good news soon, now that the holidays are over

I witnessed a buy back in progress friday! Not that I hang out at dealers much, but I had been to one a few times looking at the Alltrack. I pass a dealer every day on the way home, so I stopped friday to try to spend the rest of my dealer card. There was a Passat TDI out front and a guy standing in the window looking at it, he looked nervous lol. When I came back out 15 minutes later, it had a "not for sale" tag on the mirror.

PS They don't have Alltrack rubber mats out yet... So I got roof rack rails.

My buyback was completed today.

Agent commented, "The spare is missing." "Yup," I said. "Ok. You should get your money in 24 hours."

Appt was as uneventful as most everyone else on here.

How long does it take VW to pay off the loan on a car that is bought back? The FTC order indicates it's supposed to take 5 working days, but the timelines seem illusory.

My buy back was today Jan. 4. Smooth, 15 minutes, and $500 more than expected. Buy back guy turned his in already as well. Dealer handed me a $500 discount coupon when I told him that I was thinking about a GLI after the buy back was complete and we were talking. Guess the $1000 dollar discount is over for now?

Just dropped mine off at 12:30. Was scheduled for 5:30 today, but the rep called and said I could come in anytime I want. I think she wants to get out early since there is a slight chance of snow late today.
Now, the waiting game for the vw credit loan to be paid off.

CT. Turned in my 2015 TDI Passat with 5th hand wheels and tires. Hoping I wouldn't have a blowout on the way. No problem. EFT was what VW had figured. I made an extra payment to VW credit to prevent any problems. Now I have to get that. Got the receipt for EFT before I left the dealer.

Dropped mine off. I was thoroughly impressed with the process. It took about 10 minutes. The girl that did my buyback was pleasant. She snapped a handful of pictures, did the couple pieces of paperwork, got my check, got the emailed confirmation, and bounced.

Good luck to everyone that is still in a holding pattern.

Turned in my car yesterday 01/04/17 at 10:30est. Process was very quick and painless! It took maybe 10 minutes. I checked my phone at the end of the process and already had my receipt which I was very happy to see it so quickly. My buyback amount was actually about $250 more than the offer stated. No complaints there lol. The specialist (Christine) was very friendly and seemed to have her job down to every last detail. I was very pleased with her. As I was leaving I was asked if I had considered another VW/Audi "we will take great care of you". I'm sure you will, but I'm good. Now I am waiting on the EFT email. Reading this thread it appears those emails are getting to everyone around 8:00pm. I am patient so no worries if it takes an extra day. I will update as soon as I get the email and funds in my account. Overall I am very pleased with the buyback minus the lack of communication which is a key part to anything in life. Good luck to everyone, and I'll post one last update when I get the money, and to tell everyone I wish them the best. Be patient and save yourself from any heartache over this process. It's happening, just not as quickly as all would like and I understand that fully.

Since it seems that a decent amount of people have turned their cars in, that things should start getting easier for them and people that have been waiting should see quicker movement, perhaps.

My just dropped mine off at Team VW in Hayward, CA. Got about $500 more than was on the initial offer for low mileage. Receipt email came while I was still at the desk. Gonna miss that car.

Miracle - finally got my receipt this afternoon - I called VW Claims to tell them the mileage was off even though the $ was correct, and they were surprised it was fixed. They also said mileage doesn't matter as long as the $ was right. Now waiting for email from bank

I'm going to be hearing the claims line on-hold music in my head for a long time

Turned mine in today. No problems and a painless event. The car was mad at me for turning him in. Never had a problem but today when I was getting ready to drive the 30miles to the dealer, the passengers front door wouldn't latch. Of course it was 7 degrees out. Tied it close with a rope. Turn in guy didn't care. On the way out the head salesman introduced himself and handed me a carry bag with goodies in it including a certificate for $ 1500 to be used if I chose to buy a new or used car from their multi-franchise organization. Will miss the car but not the worry as to when one of the maintenance time bombs would go off.

Cool beans, that's where ours came from and is probably going back to. That or Oakland. They've got a full temp lot on Lakeshore at the 580 onramp, but I haven't investigated whether it's buybacks or inventory. They lost their big main lot to a developer just at the buybacks were starting.

Update! Turned my car in yesterday 01/04/17 at 10:30 am. Today 01/05/17 at 8pm I received the chase email, money should be here tomorrow or Monday given 2 days will fall on a weekend. Again, it appears (judging others experience as well) that the chase email comes the next day and right around 8:00pm. There seems to be a trend with the evening 8pm emails. So, expect your email around 8pm est.

Turned mine in today at the dealer I bought it from. Their specialist works there 4 days/week and goes to another dealer on Fridays. Completed everything with a receipt in 15 minutes. No bag of goodies, just a nice VW pen. All that's left is Chase and VW Credit for the overage. Sad day today. It was a great car, but lots of problems.

Quick question -- if i want to use the VW roadside assistance to tow my TDI into the dealership next week, what are the details of making that happen? I registered, got the goodwill cards, and remember receiving paperwork regarding the complimentary roadside assistance, but I cannot find that paperwork now.

Any help is appreciated!

They're going to have a record of who has the roadside assistance. Have your VIN handy, call 'em up (1-800-411-6688), and schedule your tow.

Tell them you haven't driven it in a few months and that the breaks were bad when you stopped driving it. They will pick you up for a reason like that. Just don't tell them you just want a pickup. Let them know you NEED a pickup and give them a good excuse why ;) hope this helps

Anybody venture a guess on how many TDI(s) have been bought back?

My thoughts are running along the lines of 50,000 to 100,000
