Hope it gets resolved for you quickly, bring. Its like getting your bags lost by the airline just as you are about to board the cruise ship where you will be at sea for six weeks, and you have no second change of clothes.

Thanks - still no receipt - I just got off the phone with VW, but got the same story as this morning, "I will get it escalated"

I don't believe they actually have an escalation process

Turned mine in today wearing the spare tire, a dead battery, a squealing fan motor, and a mangled sunshade. Also, the temp guage didnt register above zero. I maintained this car meticulously up until 2 weeks ago. Got out just in time, if you don't count the transmission replacement or the exhaust system replacement because of the cracked DPF.

Smooth turn-in process. Only excitement was when my 7 year old was sitting in a Ferrari California that was on the showroom floor and set off the car alarm.

Finally turned mine in today. The process took literally 10 minutes. Moved the car a foot backwards and then forward to show the ambassador that it ran. Now that it is gone the cracked dpf is their problem. And unless I find a pre-owned mk7 Golf R in the right price range I will be looking to a pre-owned BMW 3 series or Mercedes C or E series.

Still no receipt. The frustrating thing is the customer service folks who answer the claims hotline can't tell me what the problem is.

If you log into the claims portal, what does it show? Is the claim closed or still pending on the last step?

If it is still pending then you may want to talk to the dealer and see if they can help.

The buy back agent at the dealer sent VW tech support the information they requested after she was unable to enter my mileage on her tablet. She is asking VW for a status everyday on my behalf as well.

I meant check if someone at the dealer other than the buyback agent can look into it for you. I recall reading another post here where the dealer could help escalate an issue with the buy back.

Is the website still showing the status as pending?

Turned mine in on 12/19/16 at 1:50 pm. Got email receipt as I was walking out the door. Received the Chase mail at 5:27 pm 12/20/16 but didn't see it until three hours later. Signed up on the website and by Wednesday 12/21/16 morning, the funds had dropped!

Check in hand within 15 mins of walking in dealership door.

This claim rep knew her stuff, all paperwork at the ready.

Kinda' sad, two identical black JSW tdis sitting in lot as I pulled up next to them and a few other golfs. All tagged.

Car went back yesterday, chase email came today.

Funny thing: Upon looking at my paperwork my ambassador did not properly fill in my mileage disclosure. He had the wrong year written on the paperwork. I called him and he said "it didn't matter and no one would ever see the paperwork". Sheesh, that's real confidence inspiring but I guess all of the real documentation takes place VIA the vin on the car. No matter I guess since the money came just fine and the VW claims site says my transaction is complete.

Turned in today. Overall smooth process, as she knew her stuff. She took off my plate and TDI frame.

Her only hitch was the power of attorney I had for the other co-signer. She called her supervisor, who had her take a copy of the PoA to include in the packet. Then she had me sign both names on the odometer form.

Only issue was offer was lower than amount on offer by about 480. I figure it'll fix itself in EFT.

Still no receipt - VW Claims support has been no help whatsoever. Nobody knows anything.

Smooth transaction, car gone. :-( It was running well, and I have no complaints. Why did I select buyback? I have been wanting something sportier for a while, so it is more of a "want" than a "need", and it's a good opportunity to get out of the car before problems. But with the scandal, I was kind of "stuck" until now; hard to know if my timing would have been different had there not been the whole scandal thing. It's likely I'd be car shopping around now anyway! So, I look at it as things working out for the best. "Everything's coming up Milhouse!" ;-)

Saw a car hauler load of TDI's heading somewhere eastbound on I-70 East of Dayotn. VW will have a lot of TDI's to deal with...methinks we will be seeing YouTube videos of the crushing process at some point.

The place I turned in yesterday had a car carrier truck and it appeared they were putting them on immediately. The Ambassador said something to that effect but I had not seen the truck until driving away. They don't stick around long.
Probably really bad PR VW would love to avoid at this point...

Pretty much my thoughts, getting ready to send in Notarized documents, not in a hurry to complete this.

Just completed the return at Ancira Volkswagen in San Antonio. They have TWO ambassadors because they are the largest volume dealer in south Texas. This part of the process was extremely smooth and very quick. Got my receipt email while sitting there with the ambassador. Absolutely NO approaches from any salesmen. Excellent experience. Kudos Ancira Volkswagen.
Following up my previous post.

12/21 @4PM CST Returned car to Ancira VW 10 min process - extremely easy, got receipt on site

12/22 @730PM CST Received email from Chase. Setup account and sent payment to my bank within 5 mins.

12/23 @7AM CST noticed the money had been transferred to my bank

This was the easiest and quickest part of this process. Very similar to what others have been reporting.

Finished

Money in the bank less than 48 hours after turn-in.

Thanks to everyone for their help over the last 8 years.

300,941 unit VW sales to YTD in the US. It'll be interesting to see if the brand will survive in the US.

Many cars will be available to Hollywood for film sequences where a car goes over a cliff and explodes when it hits bottom.

Dropped the car off last week, got the transfer in my bank at the right time.
My Passat had the CEL on too (adblue heater), but they didn't care.
Overall I'm very happy with the buyback process and compensation. Too bad VW screwed it up so badly, I really liked the car and mileage.
I will stay somehow in the family, having bought a gasoline Audi.

Thanks to the forum for all the help and knowledge, I really learned a lot from all of you.

Maybe a good time to resurrect the Dukes of Hazard.

Awesome! You actually made me lol. I'm just picturing the German Duke boys in a souped up Golf or Jetta crusading for orderliness, neatness, and being on schedule and every time they jump the German national anthem plays. :D:D

And folks wonder why I'm so pissed

I returned my car on 12/19 and still don't have the goddamn receipt.

Buyback completed today at 1pm, pretty seemless, took about 10 mins. They had the paperwork, not sure why we printed it out in advance? For those with a loan like myself. My payment amount was around $1800 less due to VW having my payoff date as 12-16. Since then a payment has gone through and my loan was paid down with my service contract refund. Will VW reconcile the amount and pay me what's owed before the EFT is done, or will they overpay the loan and I will have to wait for the overage to be sent to me from VW Finance? I am guessing latter.

Nobody knows yet because nobody with a loan has reported in with a payoff.

Typically the buyer (VW) would send the remaining amount to the lender (VW Credit in your case), and any overage would be rolled over to you.

But with the delays being reported in payoffs, I wonder if VW is changing up the game plan by re-contacting the lender after the buyback for a updated payoff request. In that case, the "overage" would come from VW.

But that would overly complicate an established, easy process, so I still think it's option one.

If the Dukes Charger was the General Lee, that 01 Golf should be the Field Marshal Rommel.
