Buyback ('14 Passat/no loan) completed in 12 minutes today. (As long as I get the Chase email,I would say it went well!) Today was the first day for my dealership to do buy backs. There was a designated parking area, and I walked in the door and was met by the Ambassador. (They must have seen me parking.) He told me he would be taking me over to the Settlement Specialists office and assisting me in any way I needed. The specialist was finishing up his previous appointment, and had a "supervisor" assisting him who told me he was in charge of the specialists in my state. They walked out to my car, (they did ask for both keys) and while they were outside, I got out my title, registration, drivers license, my offer, limited power of attorney form, and odometer statement. I had them completed and signed by the time they returned, and he looked at his tablet and said my offer and what he had in the system were the same. He printed off a receipt and advised about the EFT email to be looking for etc. Shook hands...finished---12 minutes. The Ambassador did ask me if I had another car in mind, and I advised that I had already bought it. He walked me out to my ride, thanked me and handed me the tag and we drove off..... The Ambassador told me he had 2 diesels that he was waiting on for approvals himself....and that he had made the error of uploading the wrong pages instead of all 7 and he was waiting for it to get reset so he can re-upload! My dealership has 2 Ambassadors. They were both there today also. So------I wait on the EFT to complete! (fingers crossed!)

Completed!First check engine light this morning so I went over early and they took care of me two hours ahead of time. Simple process.

For all the know it all folks, EFT vs check, I took the check over to Wells Fargo, one day hold $25k.

See you on the MINI forums or not!

If only more buyback folks like you jump ship and go to a different brand, the better it is to make VW suffer loosing more customers.

Did he inspect/start/drive your car at all, or just see you driving in?

This is correct. It's always been a forum that has arrogant, smug and somewhat rude responses somewhere in most threads. I don;t plan on returning once my passat is gone.

My turn-in appointment is tomorrow at 6:30 pm. we will see how it goes.

personally get a kick from the best of the best in that category:D:D:D:D

more to the positive side

it's been a wealth of knowledge ~~ having been a "gasser" from the git go going back some 60 years

............. will admit I feel the same.

.............. and add shameless to that

.............. hold true, the cover up is their down fall :D:D:D:D

.............. but admit I have "looked" at the Jetta 1.4

............. we will see what is happening come fall 2018

Completed my 11:30 appointment. They checked the VIN, mileage, started the car, and took pictures (as did I). Received email receipt and my plates while sitting in the office. Walked out and chatted with the dealership general manager for a few minutes. I expect the EFT email within 3 business days (per the reminder I received last night). Took about 15 minutes. Given the scope of this buyback, the entire process could not be any better so far.

My turn in appointment was today at 10:30. We arrived at 10:15 and was met with a onslaught of sales vultures. I told them we were turning the car in and they did not understand what I was doing. I said it was a TDI and still they just blinked. Then one guy said take them to the Ambassador. The sales guy that was leading us inside did not know what the other one was talking about. So the guy that knew what was going on escorted us to the Ambassador but couldn't resist getting in his sales pitch about all of the great offers going on. We declined. The Ambassador was ready to start early. I asked him if we were his first turn in and he said yes. We gave him the documents, keys and title. He and I went outside while he was taking the pictures. He started the car but did not drive it nor did he look in the trunk or under the hood. We came back in and he finished the process and printed a settlement claim sheet. The money to be paid was exactly what VW has said. That was it and we were done. The process took 15 minutes and I received a email receipt on my phone before we left the dealer. All in all it was a painless process.

Completed my 10AM buyback at the AUDI dealer. At first, a sale guy asked several times who I was meeting and I told him the TDI buyback guy. He did not understand and must have asked at least 3 times who I was meeting.

Once that was over, I meet with the ambassador and he took pictures plus one of my MFD for the mileage. Now he was a big guy and did not fit into my A3 and he was having issues with getting the mileage to appear until I told him that he had to close the driver's side door. It was a little funny but he was a really nice guy.

He had some minor issue using his tablet but I was out of the dealer in around 30 minutes. I got a confirmation email about 30 minutes later. I had to request for the dealer to remove my plates but they did give me a ride home in a new A4. I was expecting to have to take a Uber but I lucked out.

I got home and ran my plates back the MVA and called my insurance company to cancel my coverage on the car. Busy morning but it is over except for the "SEND ME THE MONEY" part. In a reminder from AUDI, they stated that I would get a email up to 3 day after the settlement from JPMorgan and I would enter my banking information for the EFT transfer.

Appointment scheduled for 2:30 today is delayed. The person before me is clearly having issues as they are still with the buyback person.
Apparently he was shortchanged $450 and he's trying to sort it out in the office.

Smart, but I suspect ultimately he won't get anywhere. Maybe him pushing it will cause something to happen though.

Highly doubt that some CS rep will readjust his $ in the same day. Still waiting, person after me is waiting as well now.

Yeah, I'm thinking they can not adjust it and furthermore we wouldn't want them to or we'd all have to fight for our full amount.

I know I read of someone who turned his car in with a DPF delete successfully, but I don't recall where it was. But from the reports even just in this thread, I think it's clear they'll be accepted--there isn't even the most cursory look at the exhaust to determine if it's stock or not.

I turned mine in today. I was the first person to turn their's in at my dealership. The specialist had to call in a few times but in all it took about 25 minutes. I elected for EFT and the buy back price was exactly what the calculator said it would be.

Ok, just completed my buyback at World VW in Neptune. It took 10 minutes, no issues, same offer ammount as the letter. Received my confirmation and was on my way. Super nice buyback guy. Now it's time to wait for my $.

I guess there is something to be said for having the first appointment of the day.

It seems like a major screwup where they didn't have the assumptions behind the calculation spelled out in the offer letter.

I went through the tables from the court and worked out my expected buyback based upon mileage and all that, and compared it to my offer letter. I am short by 27 cents . Oh, the horrors - alert the media .

If they short 480,000 people by .27 cents, they're going to retain $129,600. In other news, the sky's falling and no one cares. :D

Congrats on completing the process.

I still have the car, and I don't have the check. That's just under 2 weeks. But all of the Sturm und Drang about buyback amounts seem to mostly be related to mileage adjustments that people aren't expecting.

No Sturm und Drang from me (good one, though), but that's not my case.

I had an offer letter based on my VIN (which tells them everything on the car) and my mileage at the time of my offer. The offer says they will pay me XX dollars with one condition. If the miles are over 12,500/year, then they will adjust down. I didn't drive my car (already have the replacement) yet when I turned it in, I received a (pre-calculated) amount less than the offer. No adjustments were noted or made. It's just a glitch in the system.

It's not complicated. VW had to set up a nation-wide system to track nearly half a million cars, with data for several hundred thousand already entered. They had to hire people to administer the new system (for a process that has rarely been done before). The fact that an error creeps in is annoying, but not unexpected. Maybe they'll fix it, or maybe they won't, but it's not real-time adjustments. The buyback ambassor told me as such and I could also see what he was doing. It's a simple "yes/no" decision on their part. If "yes", the pre-printed check is handed over, or the EFT is initiated. If "no" (meaning the miles are wrong, the car won't start, whatever), the payment is delayed and you'll know at that point.

I checked mine and my offer was short 27 cents as well...... :p

I assume this is due to the fact that the figure tables didn't deal with cents, and rounded the pennies up or down depending where one falls.

As has been explained to you multiple times by multiple people now, mileage is only *one* variable. The final amount also depends on the month you turn your vehicle in.

I posted a link to one of the unofficial calculators. It should be a simple process to plug in your information and change the turn-in date from November to December 1st to verify whether the $450 "shortage" is due to turning it in a few days (or months) earlier than the offer letter assumed you'd be turning it in.

And a lot of people are geographically challenged on the locations of Vermont and New Hampshire. On a map, Vermont is on the left, New Hampshire is on the right.

You can remember this by remembering that Bernie Sanders, a Vermont Senator, is a leftie.
I went to college in MA and occasionally had to remind people it's on the left... The West Coast of New England!

Another one I'd get a lot:
Where ya from?
Manchester VT
Don't you mean NH?
Nope, pretty sure it's VT but thanks...

All of the values, at least for pre-9/18/15 buyers*, will be $xxx.73, because a component of the restitution is a fixed dollar amount of $2986.73. But sure enough, the amounts in the FTC tables are rounded (up) to the nearest dollar.

* with the possible exception of those who needed an additional adjustment to get to $5100 in restitution

I turned in my TDI Sportwagen today. We did some long road trips in the last 5 weeks, so the extra mileage cost us just over $400 from the offer price. No big deal, it saved wear and tear on the new baby (Audi A3 e-tron Sportback). All went smoothly and I left smiling.

That's it for me. Over and out.
