They should get a proper payoff quote shortly before your appointment, and use that to determine what goes to the bank and what goes to you. If they overpay your loan, your lender will refund the difference.
And I believe that's the way this will go down, but with all of the craziness, I'll have to keep a watchful eye and make sure. Don't want it to fall through the cracks.

I wouldn't be surprised if these "no shows" are cancelled appointments the system did not clear.

Lucky you!

Just to vent my frustration,
I uploaded my documents about the same time. They took about 2 months to review them and during that time my drivers license expired. They said it was illegible. I uploaded my new drivers license. Another 3 weeks passed and then they finally said my documents were OK. Now two weeks later and no word.
Any idea how many have gotten payouts so far?
How many are waiting like me?

Dropped mine off today at the Santa Barbara dealership. I was the second person to turn in a car at this dealership. It took less than 15 minutes was absolutely painless. The entire staff was pleasant to deal with. Took much longer to find something to blow the 500 dollar card on as all the good stuff was sold out. At the end they gave me a ride home. Now it's just a wait for the email for the banking info.

For those in CA don't forget to grab the release of liability at the top of the title and send it in.
Nice to see another SB local on here! :)

Also, good to hear that they finally started at the SB dealership. Just wish VW would hurry up and approve my submitted notarized offer so I can make my appointment. I already ordered a new car (GTI) and it is sitting in the back lot at the dealership waiting for me.

Pretty much the same thing with me. Uploaded all necessary documents and it took them so long to verify their completeness, my license expired. I had to renew it and upload it to the system, resetting the clock.

With the pace that they're moving now, the registration on my vehicle will expire before the buyback, so I'll likely have to go through the process all over again.

You can also do the release of liability online in California.

Oklahoma ~~ bottom of title ~~ tear off ~~ cost $10 to file it at MVA

Personally ~~ if vw does screw it up ~~ somehow ~~ their pockets are all so deep.

But your point is valid:eek::rolleyes::eek:

Once you are able to make the appointment is there a way to change to EFT or change the mileage?
If there's a mileage adjustment it will be reflected on your account prior to closing the deal.

I think if you make a change like that your application will need to be re-reviewed, potentially losing your place in the queue.

Does anyone know if you get a document from VW at the Buyback ceremony;) to use as a "Trade In" at the DMV to license replacement vehicle?? Don't want to pay full taxes on new vehicle.

When I scheduled my appointment today through the claims portal, I was asked for the mileage as of today. No questions about how I was to be paid. You can select different dealers and also cancel appointments through the portal.

Several different models. Selling them back to VW

You do not have to submit a current registration per the claims website FAQ......

"Your vehicle does not need to be currently registered to be eligible. In order for the vehicle to be eligible, it must have been registered in the U.S. at some point between September 18, 2015 and June 28, 2016, but the registration need not have been in your name. In order for you to be eligible, you must have registered the vehicle in your name at some point after September 18, 2015. If you are a non-Volkswagen Dealer in the United States or its territories, you may provide a title or bill of sale in place of a registration."

They did not ask for proof of registration, although I brought it. They did not take off the plates or registration sticker while I was there.

On a side note because it errks me to no end that someone thought it a good idea to be silly and do this wasting the police's time away from real crimes.

If you don't wait which someone did not do or oh heck even if you do wait 24 hours for EFT email DO NOT call 911 saying your car is stolen and meet the Police at the dealership !! Yes this happened but I won't say what dealership and no I did not do it nor was I the officer, lol. I'm still waiting for final approval.
Seriously though guys and gals calling the police claiming a stolen vehicle will only waste precious time of an officer who could be being called for serious situations that he can do something about!

Now I get our patience is running thin and it's a lot of money in the transaction but I have friends who are police officers who can't afford nor should be standing around while you vent while he tries to explain to you why your car is not stolen!

You signed all the paperwork affirming VW taking ownership before you left the dealership. There is a waiting time for EFT email and a waiting time for transaction from the bank that you agreed to and even if there is a glitch and you don't receive your funds you're car is not stolen to the point of calling police.

Call your attorney or the attorneys in charge of the suite call the judge. Hell call your local state attorney call anybody else but calling police in this particular civil matter does nothing but prevent a police officer from real duties he can do something about.

DOn't be surprised if this does NOT qualify as a trade in. Check with your local DMV.

We get a tax credit in Vermont on sales within 3 months of a purchase. If I do not get an actual document, I am submitting at the least my buy back offer letter and evidence of being paid.

But I really want a receipt. I guess e-mail will be better than nothing. The positive thing is, I am not the only Vermont TDi owner who will be looking for this credit.

Debra,

Expect the Chase email sometime in the next 24 hours. They generally run about 24 after the buyback. There is a back office process that has to be completed, then the email is generated. After that login with the link provide in the email and about 5 minutes later you can transfer your money to your personal account. My EFT transfer was done by the next morning.

Getting a check would not be any faster, unless you are endorsing it over to someone else. But for ease of getting the actual money in your account, EFT is simplest and more than likely faster.
It's been a little over 24 hours now since my buyback was done and still nothing from Chase. Or was that 24 business hours? ;)

I got a reminder email today about my appointment on Friday. The email said three business days for the Chase EFT email to arrive so I guess that's 24 business hours.

" If you selected EFT then will receive email notification from JP Morgan Chase (donotreplyChasePayments@jpmorgan.com) within 3 business days of the buyback closing"

I just confirmed with the claims line. It's 24 business hours. It's misleading and they should just say 3 days.

How are you guys confused by this? It's always business days, business hours, excluding weekends and holidays. Even when it's not, that's the automatic fallback whether you're dealing with Amazon, Etsy, Ebay, or even Aunt May, and above all especially a bank.

Again, NO clear cut answers from VW in documents/court orders. Should have stated this in the court docs as "24 Business hours"

I guess I have to force myself to do a buyback appt on a weekday in the AM to actually let 24 business hrs in early. An early weekday buyback appt is just going to make things difficult either making up hrs at work or dip in to pto smh

On the claims site, if you look in the FAQ it does say 24 banking hours to receive the EFT e-mail. That translates to 3 business days.

I completed my buy back yesterday and still waiting for the e-mail

Ok, I just received an e-mail from Chase Payments prompting me to follow a link and setup my Chase Payments account. This happened about 27 hours after my buyback was completed.

After I setup the account and entered my bank info it said that I should see the funds in my account within one to two business days. :D

I'm not confused, thank you. That's why the ;)

Besides, it wasn't business hours after all. It was 27 regular hours.

I just received this confirmation e-mail

This email is to confirm that you recently requested a direct deposit for your payment into your bank account ending in xxxxx. If you have transferred to a Chase account before 8pm ET, the funds will be deposited into your account at the start of the next business day. For non-Chase accounts, it may take up to 2-3 business days. Any acceptance after 8pm ET will require an extra business day of processing. If you have any questions about this notice or feel that you received this in error, please contact Chase Customer Service at the toll free number listed below: 855-267-0428 Regards, Chase Payments

Once you are able to make the appointment is there a way to change to EFT or change the mileage?
As others have said, when you schedule your appointment you have to put in your current mileage. I have my buyback appointment scheduled and I want to change my payment method. The person at the Claims number said they couldn't do the change that I would have to talk to somebody in accounting. They said an accountant would call me within 3 business days, that was 2 days ago. I am not holding my breath that I will get a call.

I was curious myself about changing from EFT to check, and you have confirmed what I suspected. That attempting it would be futile.

It just seems like calling the claims line is a total waste of time these days. There isn't much they can tell you, and the promised callbacks never occur.

I kept my 3:00 appt today at Casey VW in Newport News, Virginia. I was the third turn in today, the first day of buybacks. There was no "ambassador". There were the "inspector" and the "watcher" both employed by the third party. I did receive a written copy of the acknowledgement of the buyback with my price repeated and name, VIN, etc. I took photos of my car at the dealership and the two people looking at my car for turn in, and a photo of my mileage in my car, from my camera. I have not received anything about my EFT yet, now 2.5 hours later. I did receive an email from VW with the buyback acknowledgement and the amount "VW Paid you", yet to come to me. As others said, I wish I had taken the paper check option, I just don't like not being paid when the other party has the car in hand. I got my tags.
Nothing new from the others already posted, just hope I get my money back soon. I did use my "Goodwill" card from VW to schedule a new battery replacement, oil change, and state inspection in my (Chevy truck) at the dealer and ordered a ladies' watch from the "VW store" for me; trying to use that $500 for things I can use, which does not include other VW vehicles now. Good luck to the others yet to do the buyback or fix if it occurs. I will be checking in with this forum, I am interested in how it goes and the "fix".
Debra
Hey, that's my dealer too! Glad to hear they got the process started. For me, Docs accepted, still waiting on an offer. Had to have a state inspection done earlier this week - Mike in service was cool enough to comp it - gonna miss him, always took care of me. Drained the rest of the dealer goodwill card in the parts shop with sport bag, coffee cups, stuffed animals for my furkids to gnaw on, flashlights, etc. Hope to have as good experience as you. Good luck in getting your $$ soon.

Oh great, got my buyback appointment set for next Wednesday, and it's been the warmest November ever, and the forecast is 3-5" of snow with 30-40 mph winds on that day, and we live 160 miles from the dealership. Hope I don't have to cancel.
