Don't know about you, but the process has been transparent, quick, and relatively painless so far (my buyback appointment os on 12/1.). VW has offered enough information at each step that I haven't felt uncomfortable at all. I am buying another (GTI on factory order). Sorry if the process has not played out to your satisfaction.
I fully agree. For a brand new process involving multiple government agencies, the court system and a foreign corporation, I think the process has gone amazingly well. From "busted by the cops" to payments starting to go out to nearly half a million customers in just over a year is close to a miracle in my book.

Same here ~~~ Joint owners

Hope only one need to be there ~~~ with all the proper papers and notarized signatures

Changed the date from 2016 to summer 2018 ~~~ hope there is still money in the till
Just curious, how did you change your buyback appointment to 2018 when the appointment is supposed to be made 90 days after paperwork/signatures are approved?

No, all Florida vehicle titles, have been electronic since 2005. Simply go to this web address and follow the steps to get a paper title.

myhsmv.com/dmv/etitle.html

Jim
Interesting. For both of my post 2005 vehicles bought outright (including the 2013 TDI I just turned in), I was mailed a physical/paper title from the state. I suspect maybe there was a lien on his based on this:

"Florida issues titles as either paper title or electronic titles. Since August 2007, titles issued through dealer sales involving a lien holder are electronic."

http://flhsmv.gov/dmv/title_register.html

...and from your link:

"Before you can print an electronic title, the lien must be satisfied. The lien holder must notify us that the lien was satisfied. Make sure the lien holder has your current address listed as either the owner or on the mail to address."

So, since I was mailed physical/ paper titles on both my cars (never electronic post 2005...or 2007) - and bought both outright with no lien - seems logical that he must have had a lien.

Yes, the first few folks who submitted Wednesday did get their EFT transfer on Thanksgiving day if I recall the earlier posts.
I do think the 3 days is just tossed out there to pacify folks...
Just spoke with my dealership "Ambassador" (not the third party settlement specialist) and she said that my FedEx number was entered on Friday. She said in fact NOTHING further in the process (her/ the dealerships part) can happen until that is entered. So, it appears everything in my case was completed and the delay is just the normal EFT delay from the bank I guess...
So you altready received your EFT notification email?

No...still waiting! I believe (or hope) that once I get the notification I will see the $$ immediately in my Chase account.

.... we will go paper check at the time of my buy back

.... 100 % sure will have no problem with the mileage factor.

.... most likely will have new car ride (purchase) lined up well in advance.

.... drive it to dealership ~~ dump it ~~ get check ~~ have them deliver me to my choice of new car dealer (if local).

.... will try to keep one keyfob in my pocket ~~ but will surrender it if there is a problem
Just curious, how will holding onto the extra key fab be beneficial to you?

In my case, it was never completed

I started to get an early buy back, then changed my mind.

Risk is a stolen car and/or a WRECK ~~ Will chance it.

Advantage(s) will be at least 20 month newer new car, (and zero miles) ~~ with possible newer goodies at the same price point. Like back up CAM

Talk about a fast growing thread! Mine has spent 6 months in the garage. Guess it's time to start parting it out...

Yes, actually, it is. The EFT transaction needs to be submitted within three banking days.
Where is that written? And are you referring to the email that goes out after buyback is complete or the actual money transfer?

tomorrow...

My buyback appointment is tomorrow at 1:00pm. This weekend my 2011 Sportwagen wouldn't start although it did later in the day. The battery was dying. So today I got a jump and drove it into the dealership. They checked it out and said, "yep, the battery is pretty much gone." The dealer sales guy told me to just show up a little before my appointment tomorrow and they'll start it. Then he said just drive off the lot, drive back in, park it, and leave it running. He said there'd be no problem. If there is, they'll quickly stick a working battery in the car.

So tomorrow should be interesting. By the way, I have a new 2017 Jetta SE waiting for me to drive off the lot when the deal is done. The way it is working out, there won't be any cash out of pocket for the new car. So... this time tomorrow I hope to have seen this whole affair happily resolved! I let you know.

Yes, I understand the advantages of holding and they work for me as my TDI is a 2015. So are you holding off on submitting the signed offer letter? Basically I am asking at which step are the people (waiting till 2018) delaying? My understanding is that once the offer letter is signed with the notarized stuff that a 90 day window is made for selection of buyback appointment. So are people making buyback appointments and continually cancelling them for later dates? If so, who is doing that and will it keep working for months and years (until Sept 2018)?

I do not know what CYA is. Guessing if you lived in OKLAHOMA you would own your car(s) separately from a spouse?

In Okieville the title with an "OR" on the DOC literally means one owner "OR" the other can legally mortgage or sell the auto.

The day I married my wife of 'bout 2 decades, I signed it all to "US." Same as the first wife of 'bout 29.5 years.

Most of my friends who are in their second marriage own their car(s) with one name on the title.

I can fully respect your view of the SOB Spouse situation. My brother is joined at the hip with a 38 year slot feeder.

I have a high school friend who's father gave her TWO (2) homes, free and clear. The idiot mortgaged BOTH. 100 % That was after she got the mansion in the first marriage and spent it at the shoe store.
My point was that generally...two names on a title requires two signature to sell the asset.

Where is that written?
FTC Consent Order, page 35:
F. For Eligible Owners who elect a Buyback, upon receipt of the title to the Eligible Vehicle by Defendant or a Volkswagen Dealer (or other entity authorized by Defendant) and the surrender of the Eligible Vehicle to a Volkswagen Dealer (or other entity authorized by Defendant), (i) an EFT shall be submitted within 3 banking days or (ii) a check shall be provided immediately at the time of the Buyback.

Same here...EFT email just arrived!

In anticipation, I had signed my Chase bank account up for Quickpay using the same email that I have used for VW. I didn't matter apparently. I still had to sign up for another Chase account using the same email again! Weird. I guess "Chase Payments" is not the same as Chase Quickpay? Furthermore, even though it's all with Chase - my bank and the transfer - since it's after 8pm, a message states it will take another business day until the funds are available. Nice of Chase to wait just after 8pm to send me the email - guess they want to make money on my money!

It appears as I thought that QucikPay is NOT the mechanism VW is using to send the money and having a QuickPay account has no bearing on them sending you the money..

Yep. That seems to be the deal. I thought I had read that if your Chase account email and the VW payment Chase email was the same, things were automatic but it's not so...even if that email is associated also with QuickPay.

One thing that's funny is that the person from the Claims number I called earlier today said I would have my money Wednesday - three business days - and that appears to be when it will indeed show up in my Chase bank account.

Yep, just got the EFT email (8:30 EST, turn in was 10:30am last friday).

As Tariq says, it uses a completely new system, not QuickPay. Email address whence it comes is "donotreplyChasePayments@jpmorgan.com". Clicking "Accept Payment" takes you to a webpage, which then requires entry of routing # and account #, and a couple of new security questions plus a new password. Confirmation email from "Chase Payments" arrives immediately after, altho' funds not yet showing up in the "pending" list on my Chase account... according to the confirmation email if the transaction takes place after 8pm ET then it kicks over to the next day.

Finally! VW owes me a beer for all the over-weekend stress :p

Weird! Especially after that buyback flow chart was pretty specific about QuickPay and ClearXchange. Ah well, congrats.

Thanks. Hopefully the EFT procedure will be spelled out by the buyback specialists for future folks. It's crazy that we had no idea of the timing and procedure upon leaving our car with VW during the buyback.

Part of the confusion is that the QuickPay system itself is undergoing change that is unrelated VW.

It used to be that non-Chase customers could sign up for QuickPay accounts, but when clearXchange came online, that was no longer needed, and is apparently no longer supported.

Oh, this is all "clear" (**ahem** clearXchange?) as mud:

Starting August 21, 2016, if you don’t have a Chase checking account or Chase Liquid® Card, you can’t use Chase QuickPay to send or receive money from customers who use any of the participating banks in the clearXchange network.

I don't have a Chase checking account or Chase Liquid® Card. Can I still send and receive money through Chase QuickPay?

Starting August 21, you’ll need to choose one of these options to send and receive money through Chase QuickPay:

If your bank is a participating member of clearXchange, you can use your primary bank’s person-to-person payment service. You can see a list of member banks at clearXchange.com/about#network-banks(Opens Overlay).
If your bank isn’t a participating member, you can sign up and use clearXchange.

Oh, what the heck, I'm just along for the ride. At least they're not using Western Union!

Pac,

Its not that big a deal. I got the email from Chase, clicked the link and watch them drain my bank account (just kidding). I registered and then transferred the money to my personal checking account. Done, Finis in about 5 minutes.

I'm not overly concerned, but this amalgamation of banks / payment services is dizzying. And I think it's all just a branded "wrapper" on the EFT process, swapping in the convenience of an email address.

It's good to know it went smoothly for you. I'm truly not bothered by any if it, just seems a bit comical.
