Call them. My whole paperwork process was over and done within 8 weeks. At least two of those weeks was my sitting on the paperwork to get it notorized.

Although, you should also check your math. Right now, you're sitting at about 6 weeks and part of that included holidays.

I changed from fix to buyback, and am waiting for documents to be reviewed and them to send the new final offer. I doubt they will ever have a fix for the 2012 I have. It has been a great car that I have not had a lick of trouble with. Such a shame. 120K trouble free miles. I hear 6 people indicted in the US for the deception. They should receive some jail time to discourage all the other crooked execs out there. Diesel may just be too dirty of a fuel to make it here in the US. I was planning on getting a BMW oil burner, but it is plagued with potentially expensive emission control problems beyond the warranty. I originally thought I would just keep my Golf, but will there be parts out there when I need them?, etc.

As of today, I'm still stuck @ step 17.

I just entered "2nd submission for above" after my username on the spreadsheet. I'll delete the one i give up on. Anyone have a good way to specify if you are starting a new claim on a previously submitted car. Docs accepted 11/14 then no movement, weeks until that point.

1/11/17 docs submitted
1/11/17 docs approved

So far it is working... I hope it works out for me, seems to for a few others.

Did the buyback a couple of weeks ago. Looked for about 3 months to find the right, used BMW 328d xi wagon (fully loaded). Best research for value were ones about 2 1/2 years old with appropriate or low mileage and not a CPO. Found a "better than VW ever will be" car at about 52% of MSRP only 3 hours away and negotiated down. Did a pre-purchase inspection, showed up at the dealership with a rigorous checklist and calipers. Just no comparison to VW.
The BMW diesels are a niche market and buyers are really hard to find and the dealers know it. Just compare the ratio of gas to diesels on any lot. Don't listen to dealers pitch how great their car is, have them recognize how rare a customer you are. In my case, the dealership had two prospects after a month, the other was over 2000 miles away. Dealers need to flip cars on a 90 day floor plan (financing). Watch the online websites and check Carfax for when your potential car changed hands.
We were looking at used BMW Wagons. But most of them out there seemed to be 2014 with 40k miles on them and the dealers wanting 35k. Seemed to much money. So we bought the All Track. One dealer was willing to give new for 44k even for a car with a 50700 MSRP. It didn't seem a big enough discount on used.

Side Question - For anyone that went with the EFT process (vs physical check), how/when does VW get that information from you? (or is that all done at the drop-off).

You get an email from Chase, usually the evening of the following business day after you turn in the car. You then log in to their site and give your routing and account numbers. Money usually shows up in your account the following morning.

Buyback Complete

Last Wednesday was my buyback day. My car was 3 years old with 77,000 on the clock, and a secondary issue (fuel system clogged with metal shavings from Bosch injectors ... VW wouldn't fix it since it was a "dirty" diesel and I sure as hell wasn't going to plonk $8000 into the repair ... ) I am still waiting to see that they paid off VW Credit for me. My payment due date was Jan 9 and the buyback was Jan 11; will check again tomorrow. Realized that there was no mention of how quickly they would pay off VW Credit!

Also, there IS a black hole you can fall into between sending your notarized papers back and them letting you set a date. If you review the Settlement docs, you will see that. That's when I had a meltdown at my dealership. So if you are waiting, I'm really sorry. I did put in a "friendly" call to my TDI specialist (the buyback person) at the local dealership, and while he said there was nothing he could do, I felt at least that I had done all I could.

What did I buy to replace it? I had decided to not do another diesel, after that secondary issue; that just terrified me that it could happen again. I was probably going to get a 2nd hand Subaru with about 30,000 on the clock and I'd have to borrow $5000. But then a neighbor came by and let me know of a widow who was ready to sell her husband's car. I have purchased a 2008 Mercedes Benz C300 with 10,000 on the clock....

I had the same thing happen to my 2011. They took a fuel sample and sent it in to VW. They ended up replacing the fuel system (lines, filter, injectors, filter housing, etc). The only thing they didn't replace was the tank.

Plan on either making that payment, or asking VW Credit to let you skip one. They're supposed to pay off loans within 5 business days, but it seems to be averaging 2-3 weeks.

How did you change this status with them? Can you describe the process for me? Phone, online? Etc....

Thanks,
Scott;)

I had problems with my submission back in September with one of my two cars . and it had to do with how we had setup portal which got figured out 1/4/. so I started over from scratch on 1/4/17 and reuploaded everything.

got my green checks on 1/12/17
got offer back today 1/18/17
will notarize and send back tomorrow

they seem to have sped up the process now. :D

Submitted on 1/18, green check marks when I looked this morning, 5 day turnaround time, not too shabby in my book.

Now waiting for refund of last payment made after VW's calculations.
Check received 1/20/17 for over payment.

Done and done. Have fun folks. If I buy another TDI a few years down the road, I'll be back...

paperwork deemed "complete" and "under review" on 7 November 2016 for the 20-business-day period as mandated in the court order.

still waiting for an offer letter. actually had the chat rep tell me today "what i'm supposed to do? you'll get one when you get one. maybe 2-6 weeks?" (improper english used as it's a quote)

nice to see VW cares.
