I started working on my balance shaft delete yesterday. I dropped the subframe, but really expected it to drop more. It only dropped a few inches and I'm having a killer time getting some if the last oil pan bolts out. I have two right above the subframe that are driving me crazy. Should it drop more or is that normal?

It has been a few years now, but iirc I had to push the subframe down and block it there to get the pan off.

Are you supporting the engine with a bar/fixture of some sort? if so, take the subframe out completely... That's what I did.

Harbor freight makes a bar that works just fine:

That's exactly the bar I bought Saturday morning lol. We had a terrible time getting oil pan out, but when going back in we used a pry bar to force it down and jammed some 4 1/2 inch blocks under it. Had all kinds of room then. Live and learn I suppose.

I'm no mechanic pro by a long shot, but this was definitely the hardest automotive job I've done, at least combined with timing belt and water pump. Timing belt was kind of a breeze compared.
