BRM PD Starts but wont run, no check engine or any other guages

Having trouble with my 2006 PD BRM

Car sat for a month, ran great previously

Turn key, no glow plug light, no guages, no check engine light etc

Car turns over and begins to start but wont continue to run

Appears to clearly be electrical but so far I cant find a bad fuse

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated

Got to find my VAG com cable and see if I get anything from it but having trouble locating it <sigh>....this is what happens when you upgrade from girlfriend 1.0 to girlfriend 2.0 with cohabitation module

Flaky engine speed sensor?or wiring to it? But, a no-glow-plug-light can mean that the ECU does not boot up.
These cars do commonly suffer from abraded wiring harnesses...many times in the area between the engine and the chassis on top of the starter. Not only can the wires break but they can short against each other and create havoc.

I replaced my turbo a few months back and once done, I had this same problem. It would almost start, but then it would not. I went through many steps, injectors, compression, etc. My problem came down to a stuck open EGR valve. I took mine out and it was all gunked up. Cleaned it put it back, but left the electrical connector off. Started right up. I plugged the connector in and in about 3 minutes, the car shut down and would not start. I stole the EGR valve from off another car and all is well.

I suggest pulling the EGR valve and check the condition. I believe it is supposed to be closed when you take it out.

...if the bold is true, you most likely have a bad relay in the Central Electronics box. There are 3 or 4 identical ones in a row, you may have to loosen the bottom of the dash to get them out. I think the DRL light will come on when you turn the key on, but nothing else, IIRC.

I get DRL and nothing else

If you have any other suggestions I'm all ears.....is this something I should be able to validate with a simple connectivity tester like I should expect power at each side of the relay?

I cannot remember exactly what the relay is called. I have "load reduction relay" in my head but that may not be correct.

I just looked this up, and it MAY NOT be correct, but:

Position #3 on the lower relay carrier (lowest level) which is under the Central Electronics Module under the left lower section of the driver's foot well dash area (you will have to take the lower cover off and the knee brace out).

Position 3 is third in from the left, J682 Power Supply Relay for terminal 50. There will be a part number on it, it may also have the identifier of '460' on it, part number will be 1K0-951-253-A.

And as I stated earlier, you may have to loosen the dash to get that relay out, or loosen the CE assembly and hang it down some.
