Guys the car in my sig, recently put my South Bend in, EGR plates, and a boost gauge, was fixing to do a tune and started watching boost levels. I was told it should be around 16ish psi stock and since installing boost gauge car will jump up to 22 psi before shifting in 2nd gear, not being in it hard at all just maybe a little harder than normal driving, shifting at 2200rpm or so before it falls back to 15-16 psi. 3rd gear isn't as bad, maybe 19-20 psi before falling back. I'm still kinda new to the TDI world, coming from diesel trucks, is there a possibility a vane sensor isn't working properly or the waste gate is trying to stick? Just seems on the high side to me, I'm going to upgrade chargers but was wanting to make it little while longer on the stocker and not put a tune on it and nuke it right off the bat. Any suggestions?

There are just too many to list....
The PDs boost higher than the VEs, and the BRMs already have an excellent charge air cooler. You can make over 150hp reliably with software alone on that engine, so long as you are not shifting so soon. :)

There is no wastegate, BTW.

Well thats good to know. I was just really curious as that seemed high and Ive heard anything over 18 will kill the stocker pretty easily but I didn't know how much truth there was to that. I'll wring the gears out a little longer hah

15 psi is the maximum sustained boost. Occasional 22 psi spikes at low rpm are normal and will not hurt the turbo.

A boost log with VCDS would really be the most helpful way of figuring out if there really is a problem.

I have VCDS, what block/ parameters need monitoring? Thanks for the help.
Go to measuring blocks group 11 and log that while under load. See if you can get it to spike like that and maybe do a pull up to around 4500 RPM to see what the duty cycle looks like.
