Hi all,
Just wondering if it makes any or much difference to use different brand oils in the same car (2010 Jetta TDI) as long as any that are used meet the VW 507.00 spec explicitly. i used Liqui Molly Top Tec 4200 for the first change since i bought the car. Found out the dealer where i bought it (certified pre-owned) who also serviced the car since new uses the Castrol Edge synthetic LL03. i'm assuming it shouldn't make any serious difference but wonder what more knowledgeable folks here think.
Thanks in advance!

You're going to get so many different view points here on what's "good" and "bad". Bottom line, if it's 507 approved, it's a good quality oil.

Just make sure that the dealer does not make a 'mistake' and put a non-507 oil.

Yeah, all the 507 oils are pretty comparable and good. I have used mobil 1 oils with excellent results in many vehicles, so that's what I tend to use. But I also use many non-507 oils from mobil, shell, chevron and others with excellent results as well.(In dpf free diesel and gas equipment)

The "oil people" on this forum seem to agree that the VW spec on 507.00 oils is so tight that it doesn't really matter which one is used.

Is there a 0w-30 507 oil?
Look at eBay for possibly finding the Pennzoil Euro LX 0W-30. It looks like Pennzoil has discontinued the Ultra Euro L 5W-30 (VW 507) in lieu of this new one which is 0W-30. However finding it is not easy and Amazon so far is not carrying it.

Cool. I was really just asking out of curiosity. I haven't run a 507 oil in my car for several years.

^^ Now that's a concise response! Thank you.

Yes, there are 0W30 507.00 oils now.
