I got one (36", 1/4" diam), now I have to justify it.

What could be some car related uses?
I just read a thread on a replaced cam follower where someone recommended to remove the head for inspection-I figure this could be used there by looking through a glow plug hole.

The scope is resistant to diesel fuel.

What could be seen in the oil pan, via the dipstick, say? I'm thinking not much unless catastrophic - like pieces of stuff laying around. I don't know about bent rods?

Could something be seen of the clutch? I'm pretty sure a part number at the least.

Maybe the transmission?

The intact tract/manifold?

Turbo wheels?

All of these things you would really have to know what you're looking at.

Any other ideas?

If it is small enough, to see if there's condensate sitting in a tire - liquid makes it impossible to balance one.

Down air vents in the car to see if there's dirt, mice, mold, leaves, etc collecting in there. Possible occlusions in drainage plumbing also.

Fuel tank debris.

All I can think of for the moment.

Lucky you to have a fun new toy!!

The big advantage as I see it is that thing sdon't have to be disassembled, which takes time and might cause more things to break.

I didn't know that about liquid in the tires. It might be tight for that.

I'm thinking 36" might even be enough to see a dropped tool or bolt on the lower cover plate so that it can be retrieved with its magnet attachment or serve as a guide for a magnet tool.

Now I know who to get hold of if I ever need someone with one. Only problem is I don't know where Sand Lake is. My luck is it is about 400 miles from my end of the state.

Yep, a six hour drive according to google.

Karl... Obviously the use of the tool is to bring it to Get-Togethers and let others use it!!! Then it truly becomes a Borrow-Scope...

As for finding things on the belly plate... you should have stayed closer to me last year at the V's when I was cleaning out my intake... the only thing I dropped was a gasket... non-magnetic, of course...

Congratulations on the new toy !!

Yuri.

I need it to find my keys when I drop them beside my driver's seat.

Play. It was about 200 bucks.
I figure there'll be occasional use around the house too.
That sounds like a good price! Was it new? On special?

Is it illuminated?
