Boost Creep with muffler delete and stage one tune? (BEW)

Hi all. I have been searching for the answer to this question and I feel there are many different answers. I have a 2004 mk4 jetta wagon and I don't know if I will get boost creep if I do a muffler delete and a stage one tune. Besides that I plan on keeping the car stock in terms of engine/power mods.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question with a basic answer, I just want to make sure.

Thank you in advance!

imo and experience, "boost creep" is an artifact caused by the tuning being not being quite right - namely, being over-fueled for the turbo. a muffler delete alone is going to have a fairly small impact.

OK got it thank you. So a stage 1 tune Malone tune wouldn't cause any issues? I figure that wouldn't be considered "not quite right".

If you have read burpods thread about malone tunes you will have a better understanding about them. Burbod does custom tunes and the guys that have them love them. I spoke with him and he is very knowledgeable and is a friendly guy. The malone tune from stage 2-5 is the same tune pretty well. I have a stage one from them on my car and it is nice, that being said if you are in the states a burpod tune might be cheaper for you. If I had the hardware I would have got one of his tunes ( just VCDS and a MPPS) and if I do injectors and a bigger turbo ect down the road he is doing my tune. I would shoot him a message before you pull the trigger on malone. If you are concerned about boost creep then get him to do it and he will make sure you are dialed in.

I had a stage 1 installed in my bew years ago. First thing i was told to do by Malone was run logs for boost creep. It was there. He tweaked the tune. Ran new logs and all was well so yeah a stage one can cause issues.

How is it literally all of the other turbo diesel engines can be straight piped and tuned, either together, or either one individually, and don't have "boost creep", but magically, a tdi does? Easy answer, it's in the tuning.

Its not entirely true! Tiny turbos and especially hibrid of these usualy use a larger compressor but keep the same small turbine which can overspeed when driven too hard - especialy with high boost requests. Thus tells us the tuebine to comlreasor ratios are not optimal and it results in boost creep. I have seen tunes where boost request was 2.7 bar yet the car would deliver 3.3 bar. N75 had a hard time keeping with boost request!
