Watching that is like cheating on my JSW. However "doesn't come in a manual transmission" There's always a flaw.

AWD wagon? Umm... they do make AWD TDI wagons. In Mexico, even.

You even get the choice of 1.6 TDI or 2.0 TDI. No gasser 4motions though, and no DSGs.
4motion is less of an upcharge than DSG, even...
Just... for some reason, Volkswagen USA/Canada don't sell the 4motion wagon.
Exactly here in the US they cheapened the cars down here this is why us Americans can only dream of VW to have this car in the states!

Cool car, but why would watching some retard drive like an idiot give me the big O? Seriously, some things need to be reserved for the apropriate situation..............

If I could afford it, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

A dream machine. But nothing I'll ever own one. By the time it depreciated enough for me to afford it I'd be too scared of all that fancy technology failing on me.

Hmmm . . .
Wagon: no
Video game dash: no
AWD: no
BMW price: NO!

Looks to me like a yawn, not an "O" . . .

at least for me . . .

for some reason BMW wagons always look silly or wrong. Can't explain it but IMO they are hideous.

I'm not a fan of the 3 Series' styling, but I do like the 5, which is significantly more expensive.

I guess the bottom line is that BMW gets props for selling the 328d in the US and increasing their diesel lineup. I suspect that it will sell well given the big fuel economy increase over the gasser, but it probably won't ring too many bells with the TDIClub crowd, who generally want no frills, reliable, and cheap transportation (most of which are not VW features anymore ;)).

I personally really like the BMW 328D wagon styling and interior. I would certainly consider it if I was looking for a JSW replacement.

It's amazing anyone could really criticize a nice piece of engineering like this. It sounds like a case of sour grapes, I could never afford it mentality so I'll say anything I can to bring it down.

My old man used to always tell me "It's easy to be a critic"

I will never be able to afford a new car that costs 6/10 of my house, but I'm impressed. It a nicer vehicle then VW or any manufacturer I'll ever drive "brand new" makes.

Before I watched the video I was ready to say "run flat tires, no manual, no RWD (I'm not an AWD fan), three strikes. But watching the video I have to admit it's a very nice car. And I like BMW wagons, but I like almost any wagon.

However, $56K is probably more than I'll ever spend on a car. Is it really more than twice as good as my Golf? Probably not. And I do worry about all that technology after a couple hundred thousand miles. If you're part of the crowd that leases a car and walks away after 3 years this could be a nice option.

Definitely want to upgrade, love wagons and AWD, the diesel option just made the sale for me. They want $62k with NYS tax included for the fully loaded model. Soon, soon :)

A good point about leasing, if you can afford a 56k car you're

1. Probably not going to keep it 10 years
2. Maintenance cost is a non-issue
3. Snob-Appeal is a definite factor. You spend twice as much on a car that's not twice as better than a JSW because you can :)

Or because it has features you feel you "need," like AWD, multiple driving modes, and a backup camera that includes lines. What happens when someone gets used to that crutch and then has to back up in a rental car?

As an aside, BMW has a new profit center: The low-profile run-flats are so prone to impact blowouts and destroying wheels that dealers sell replacement insurance. A set of wheels and tires for a 5-series can easily exceed $4K. Ouch.

No Orgasm. Nice car - good looks and really nice technolgy. I do not really need any of it, though.

Sold -- '05 Passat. 2014 BMW 328D
I bought a 328D for the spouse last November. Was a little less than 50K out the door. Not the wagon and not AWD. First BMW for us. Definately much sportier and fancier than the 05 Passat. Gets about 45 on the highway and is averaging about 40 a tank of mixed driving. Wife is very happy with it, so that is a BIG plus. I wanted a diesel sedan AND rear wheel drive, so it was a very short list to choose from.
