Been a while since I’ve been on here. I sold my three TDI’s few ago and got the itch again (it never goes away). I just test drove a 14 the 84k on the clock and it looked and drive like new. I raised the hood and took the oil cap and it danced like a cat on hot tin roof and really puffed like locomotive. I don’t remember my other three ever dancing like that. It has had the diesel gate work down where is my other three had not. What is acceptable and what is classified as blow by? Not being mine I can’t really investigate it much. It danced enough to blow it off. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Doesnt take much to dance or more often vibrate off. I would look for service records, how long ago the dpf was done because it will fail again. I think you get 4yrs and maybe 48,000 miles after the date it was " fixed". Id put some miles on it on a long test drive to see if you can get any lights on the dash to pop on.

It’s not mine so I can’t go very far in it. The DPF was done about 65,000 miles ago. I can’t really check EGR or anything like that. I drive it about 5 miles maybe a little more. It drive on it did seem a little anemic. Boost was ok oil pressure was ok. No service records other than when the DPF works was done

There are just too many to list....
The scavenging of the crankcase vapors and pressure don't really do much at idle. So that "test" isn't really worth doing.

It has 84k miles on it, and the DPF was replaced 65k miles ago??? Or do you mean it has 184k on it?

It has 84 and change so say 85 on it now and the DPF was done at around 25 so it’s got 65 on the DPF system a total of 85

I did forgot to mention they said they have never heard do a Regen and have never seen a regen light. No fans running no smell or anything. They have had it 4 years now

Not saying it has failed but I believe something is going on with it. I think they know myself. How much is diesel gate fix ? The last three I had never had it done. I wish I had them back !
Well I guess if the price is right. I'd plan on either dpf replacement or deleting if it in your negotiations.
