OK, so I doubt I've actually gained any BHP from doing this, but I like the new look of my engine. My car is silver by the way, hence the choice of colour, plus it goes well with the intercooler piping.

From this

TO THIS! :D Diamond silver cam cover and cambelt cover + chromed fuel rails. Also gave the area a little wipe down.

Oh dear - How the hell did this topic go so downhill? - Oh that's right! Steve got involved.... :D

My painted head is still doing nicely. Have a couple of carshows in the Midlands part of the UK this weekend, so hoping the new changes go down well. (and no "going down" puns please.... :D)

Northampton for Edition 38 on Saturday, and Silverstone for TRAX on the Sunday. I'm staying in South Leicestershire again, and planning a Skoda mini-meet at the Hope & Anchor in Syston - up your way. :D

Jason,
Looks great...of course get your head polished will help and make the engine look good too:D
I've been working on the "bling" factor bit too. This is a little old but close to where it is now. What doesn't stand out is the yellow engine block!

Be there on Saturday ay 7pm. Google for "hope and anchor syston" and it should come up with the postcode to find it. It's kind of by the canal, not far from the dual carriageway which bypasses syston. :) There should be 6 or so Skodas there, maybe an Audi RS4 as well. ;) (SPITS! Not a TDI :p )

Valve Cover

Cool valve cover.

I thought of taking mine off and painting it like my Audi 4000 CS.

This "wrinkler effect" paint works pretty good. Has anyone done this with the TDi engine?

Egr

Viewing some of these photos I have noticed that the EGR throttle valve is replaced with a straight pipe (see photo).

Is it possible to replace my factory PD unit with a straight pipe connection? What is the advantage?

Thanks,

Look up EGR replacement for info on that. Plenty on here.

My cam cover was plastic so I had to give it lots of prep work, and gave it plenty of coats of "plasticoat" - some kind of plastics primer I got off the shelf of a hardware superstore over here. That gave a good base for the paint. I only hope it keeps fairly good given the cover can get fairly warm. I hope it does.
