B5 in Edmonton Alberta, spring and summer only !

I received an E-Mail back from Shell Canada about Bio-Diesel Content.

They started putting in B5 as of April 2011.:) B5 is only available in the Edmonton Area. Come Fall and Winter , they go back to Straight Diesel.

I am surprised that B5 would cause gelling problems in the winter !

It says it is under "Know your vehicles warranty rights":

http://www.propelfuels.com/content/driving_with_biodiesel

If you sign up for their free CleanDrive program which keeps track of your emissions (among other features) from their website it's pretty cool.

Thanks bud! Now I can pump with peace of mind. I actually head down to the pump station the other day. It's next to Shell, but Propel's pumps are better looking then the Shell's! So yeah, sold! :)

Are they serious? $5.69/gal for B99! (Wash state)

I stopped by the APP station in Fife (Tacoma) Washington today and nearly fell out of my car when I saw they'd raised their already-high price! Does anyone know of any other sources for B99 in Pierce County? I just can't justify paying $5.69/gal knowing that only 30 miles north, Propel is charging $4.16. Give us a break APP - this is ridiculous! If anyone has any ideas or leads, I'm all ears.
Thanks!

There's a Shell just off of SR167 in Sumner (the exit just south of 8th Street, can't remember how it's labeled), but they get their fuel from the same place and the last time I checked they were $5.99. However, it's been a couple of months since I checked.

Bio-D in the Pierce/So King County area is slim pickings. Don't know why.

Still $3.99 @ Sequential outlets in PDX... for that price difference it would almost be worth it to drive down and make a bulk purchase.

Is there any BIO in the Ontario area? Like B5, as all on the list have closed or stopped selling it I believe. Canada sucks when it comes to Bio diesel, way behind the times.

Downs Energy, Corona CA B99 $3.614

Downs Energy
1296 Magnolia Ave & Downs Way, Corona CA.

Paid $3.614 today for B99 and B20 was $3.908. (I paid $3.97 at another station for D2).

By the way, there is listing for Downs Energy on the GasBuddy site. I posted the B20 price in the diesel block. I entered the following in the comment block: 'B20 is 3.91 and B99 is 3.60' Would be helpful if members post up the price they paid when they purchase! Next time I go by, I may ask the staff if they would post their prices using GasBuddy...we'll see.

Bob,
Downs' B99 price was lower than their B20 price? Are you sure because I don't recall that happening in recent times. I might start making my own mix if that stays true. I've been with them for about a year and a half buying their B20.

Yes Sir, unless the clerk made an error.
I was pleasently surprised myself.

Their receipt, less the same taxes:
B20 $3.5099
B99 $3.2161

Maybe the tax break for Bio. Maybe they aren't selling as much. I didn't ask either.

VW's Diesel Tracker site has stations in Illinois on it that are selling B5-B20 Biodiesel which voids new car warranty. Seems kinda of goofy. I notified them and they were surprised to hear that.

From the gas prices thread here, it appears they get the prices from GasBuddy, which doesn't differentiate between B5 or B0 unless someone writes it in the notes when they submit the price.

If the biodiesel manufacturer is using cheap, if not free WVO as feedstock, and they have an efficient system for collection and transportation in place, B100 will always be cheaper than any blend. Check out www.glbiofuels.com and www.newportbiodiesel.com to see how it works.

My first fuel stop on a trip to California last week was for B20 at Propel in Oakland. My mileage dropped from 48MPG to below 40, though my car still ran good with no change in performance. When the tank was half empty I topped it with D2 which brought the mileage up to 46. I later got B5 in Shasta, Ca. at Cross Petroleum and mileage went to over 50.

Finally found a place selling B100 made from local WVO in the interior of BC. Had a hell of a time finding it. Seems the government here is intent on killing it. There were several locations just a few years ago and now all of their websites are 404.

The place is in Winlaw, a tiny town north of Nelson in the Kooteneys. They bought up the equipment of one of the old bio plants that went under. They will deliver in a wide radius around there for free with a 200L+ purchase. Small deposit on the tank they deliver and you're good to go :)

Winlaw, BC - this is a tiny town. Can't miss it. Just north of the Cedar Cafe ;)

For folks in the southern part of Fort Worth, TX:

Love's Travel Stop
10801 South Freeway, Fort Worth, TX 76140-7545 (817) 293-5118 ‎
(It's the I-35 Garden Acres exit)
Sells B10 at the pump (sign says it's a mix between 5% and 20% bio, whatever that means).

Also, it's been mentioned here before but Texas Biotech in Arlington sells B99, and it's like $0.50 cheaper than regular diesel. Really nice folks there too, they were really gracious about pumping me .7 gallons so I could make the B5 mix that my 2011 Golf warranty requires... :) I believe he said it was made from virgin soybean oil.

For northern Nevada folks in the Reno, Sparks, Carson City area, Bently Biofuels now has a public (M-F 8-5 - Visa/Mastercard - no cardlock) B100 pump located at 1350 Buckeye Rd in Minden (775-783-0160). As of July 2006, it's running around $3.50/gal. A 46 mile one-way drive from Reno, but worth it!:)
Used Bently Biofuels yesterday on my trip back from Reno NV. About 2 miles off of US 395, so close to freeway. Their general store is closed on Sunday so I used my VISA. (NO AMEX accepted). Averaged 50 MPH back home doing 70. Also got up 85-90 when passing slower cars.

B20 3.92. They have B50 at the pump now, assume for the winter.
