Did anyone else get this invitation from Davis Bookhart? I live less than 1 mile from this place. Maybe we could all go for lunch afterwards!

Please post if you're planning on going!

RE: Biodiesel Cooperative

Dear Clean Air Supporters:

Please join us on Saturday June 11th at 10:30am for our inaugural meeting
of the Charm21 Biodiesel Cooperative. The purpose of the meeting is to
introduce the Cooperative, provide an overview of where we are now, and to
lay the groundwork for the final stages of getting the coop up and running.

All are welcome – you don't have to know a thing about biodiesel to be a
member. In fact, you don't even have to have a diesel car or use home
heating oil. You just have to want to see cleaner air in Baltimore and be
part of the movement that will make it happen.

Time and Location:

10:30am – 12:00 noon
Saturday June 11th

Clifton Mansion
2701 St. Lo Drive
Baltimore, MD 21213

Clifton Mansion is in the middle of Clifton Park.
Enter St. Lo Drive from 25th St. See map below.

About Biodiesel and Charm21

Made from vegetable oil, biodiesel is a clean renewable fuel that can
displace diesel fuel, home heating oil, marine fuel, and diesel generator
fuel with no modifications to the equipment. Charm21, a Baltimore-based
non-profit organization, is dedicated to promoting clean renewable energy
resources. The Biodiesel Cooperative is a program of Charm21.

Biodiesel GTG in Baltimore with Charm21 June 11th

Lito,

I'll check with Becky to see if this is doable. My company picnic is that day starting at 1:00, so I won't be able to do lunch.

Re: Biodiesel GTG in Baltimore with Charm21 June

We missed you, Kristen. It was a good meeting. I think Davis has thought a lot about how to organize a biodiesel coop, and having already bought and set up a fancy 50-gallon reactor, he seems serious. There is a plan to meet again in two weeks (25 June at 10:30am) at the warehouse where they've acquired space to make the stuff. We (or someone) will post more info when we learn more.

Here's a link to the reactor they've bought.
Here's a map of where the warehouse site would be (2800 Sisson St., Baltimore).

The paradigm would be that members pay a $75 annual fee to offset the cost of the reactor and initial supplies. Then members would pay a per-gallon amount on top of that, which has yet to be determined, but he said would probably be in the ballpark of $2.00/gallon. I'm hoping it would be lower than that, but who knows. We encouraged Davis to set up something on biodieselnow.com as a way of communicating with interested people in Maryland.

Re: Biodiesel GTG in Baltimore with Charm21 June

I shouldn't be surprised about the TDI owners who attended and hadn't heard about TDICLUB.com, but we need to find a way to get to other TDI owners in Baltimore who might be interested in making this stuff.

On the way to the HON fest, I saw several TDI's parked not far from the location of thieir facility.

Time to start carrying around TDICLUB cards and a Charm21 flyer of some sort.

Re: Biodiesel GTG in Baltimore with Charm21 June 11th

RC,

from Davis:

Thanks to everyone who attended or expressed interest in the Charm21
Biodiesel Cooperative meeting on Saturday. About 20 people came to the
meeting at Clifton Mansion, and we had a constructive talk about the
structure of the coop and what we need to get started.

The meeting began with an overview of Charm21 and why Charm21 was
establishing the coop (a basic informational brochure on Charm21 is
attached). The group then focused on a draft overview of the coop
(attached). Based on the basic structure outlined in the draft, the group
decided the following:

* We will form three initial ad hoc groups to help focus on specific
issues. The three groups are: (1) Communication, Outreach, and Education;
(2) Oil Collection; and (3) Fuel Testing. Anyone who would like to join
any or all of these groups, please contact me.
* For communication, questions, answers, and access to a larger
biodiesel community in the Baltimore/DC region, we should direct people to
BiodieselNow.com. The regional thread for us is at
http://forums.biodieselnow.com/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=7. This is a great place
to find out about what is happening and learn about biodiesel.
* For a more direct form of communication among coop members, it was
suggested that set up a yahoo group. I will do that and send a note out to
everyone as soon as it is complete.
* We will gather again on June 25th at 10:30am to work on cleaning and
setting up the coop facility. We can use all kinds of help, from skilled
to general, so all are welcome. The warehouse space will be dirty, so
dress appropriately. We hope to get as much of the setup done that day as
possible.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed to the meeting and is helping to
get our biodiesel movement off the ground in Baltimore. I will send out
another note with more information on the Yahoo group and the work day on
June 25th.

Thanks Lito. I hope this works out for all of you.

BTW, we appear to have another B100 retail location opening up soon on Rt. 50 here in Berlin... Raceway Citco on Rt. 50 and Rt. 589.... a few miles east of Cropper`s Oil.

To Dan, Jeff and Brian

Please go to the Yahoo group as I've updated it with many links, files, photos, ect.

I've even started a diagram for a biodiesel reactor arrangement.

Next Meeting?

I missed the 11th. Is there another meeting coming up. This is wild because I was looking to form a coop and could only find meeting groups via Craig's list down in the DC metro area. I'm in the process of putting my first brew together. Looking forward to brewing cooperatively.

I tried posting a reply but apparently I started another thread. Has the coop been formed yet? When is your next meeting.
