I would like to buy a big brake kit for a
96 passat. It would be great if I could find
a kit that puts Willwood calpers on the front
and rear I seen them on front but not back
parking brake problems I guess, maybe bigger
stock calpers front and rear anyone know?

I, too, would like to have at least a twin-piston caliper to take the "slop" out of the system. Four-pot clamps in the front, with twins in the rear, would be fantastic!

Only Brembo makes a complete A4 kit as far as I know, and you'd better have deep pockets. You're looking at five grand or so.

Baer makes some gnarley systems, but they don't mess with VW brakes at all!

None now. Former: 2011 335d, 2010 Jetta TDI, 2003 Jetta TDI Wagon. 99.5 Jetta TDI, 98 NB TDI, 3 different black 96 Passat TDI wagons.
Take a look at www.bira.org. They have a design that fits the Audi TT, which would apply to most of our cars as well.

I bet these kits will only work with the 1.8t and the VR6 because they use seperate carriers and brake housings. to do a TT big brake conversion on a 2.0 or TDi you have to get the bearing housings and the calipers from a VR6 or a 1.8t then the rotors and carriers from a TT. if you have a 1.8T or VR6 all you have to do is buy TT rotors and carrier use you same housings and calipers.

I am working on getting a set of housings and calipers from a VR6 to do this conversion. Neew parts are expensive so I am trying to get some used ones from wrecked A4's. New parts just from VW with out the audi parts are about $1200 so that is what is holding me back.

RPI have a 12.3" Wilwood kit available. Not sure if it would fit a Passat. Call for pricing (604-944-0494 and talk to Dustan).

I have the 11" Wilwood kit and I really like it. Looks great.

One caveat would be that you would need a 17" rim to fit the 12.3" kit. Something else to possibly consider.
