After a lot of researching I found conflicting data on what is needed, and if its even worth switching.
My 2006 Jetta wagon developed a hole in the intercooler from the shroud rubbing against the fins. It wore a hole right through it.
...so so many horrible designs on this car, its incredible.
The cheapest BEW OE intercooler I could find was $350. Had a local parts guy close by and got an ALH intercooler, upper pipe and pancake pipe for $75.
They all bolt up.
Only difference is the upper pipe doesn't have previsions for the various lines. Fuel and vacuum.
I trimmed the intercooler shroud and no leaks.
May even upgrade to an ebay aluminum one now that I have the older couplings!
Note: the pipe that connects the intercooler to the upper pipe is a pita so get a worm hose clamp or two.
