BEW motor mount bracket helicoil size

finally , after multiple uses the aluminum bracket gave up its threads
is it advisable to helicoil it ? what size is needed ?

I've never used either, I have read on this forum that some say the threads are better than the original. I would just replace the motor mount piece.

Sounds like someone did a timing belt job this weekend. :) I'm planning on doing my BEW tomorrow.

shot motor mount , vibrating the car excessively

will try NAPA tomorrow if they have any Timeserts

NAPA wants $83 for the heli coil kit that does not even include the drill bit
Ordered a time sert kit from eBay

What a stupid design by VW

It's my guess it's a weak bracket hanger by design. They probably want the engine to break away and fall down in the event of a front collision instead of ending up in the front seats.

The M12 kit is worth buying if you have 2 TDIs . Tranny mounts may need it too

It comes with every thing you need . I did get the longer inserts for 10 bucks extra
