Purchased a set of aftermarket wheels/new tires for my A3 after a bad pot hole incident. Got them off tire rack.com during a great closeout sale. They came mounted and road force balanced. Put them on and everything was great. Jump forward a few months after oil change/tire rotation I'm having crazy vibration at highway speeds. Steering wheel shaking and seat shaking. Ended up figuring out that most aftermarket wheels come with hub centring rings which these did. Problem though is that the ones I had on there were hollow abs plastic ones from tire rack. Bought the correct size aluminum ones off Amazon and it fixed it. Not sure why exactly. Bruce over at projektsik1 in Oklahoma City was the one who when I told him my symptoms immediately told me I needed metal rings so shout out to him.
I know on the interwebs there is lots of debate over plastic vs metal huh center rings, but this fixed my issue. Bruce's shop specializes in Audi/VW and he said he sees this constantly. Makes me think it has something to do with the German cars having lug bolts vs nuts but who knows. I went ahead and purchased a stud conversion kit as well to make tire rotations much easier.

Amazing how the same things happen again and again....
Hopefully keeping the info out there will help others
