I had a blowout a few weeks ago, So i decided to get new tires.

I researching options I came on a great review from Tire Rack for the Kumho Ecsta 4x.

I popped for a set (Discount tire matched price) and I am quite pleased with them. They are smooth, quiet, and the steering response is great. The review said the ride was a bit harsh, but I don't think they are any different than the Goodyear eagle AVS they replaced.

As a bonus, they have a $50 rebate until the end of the month, and the tires are reasonable to start with.

Just wanted to pass this info along to anyone shopping for new tires.

Problem with new tires... is they all ride well. It's how long they last and how they feel after 40k miles.

After taking a chance on a set of Bridgestone Turanza's... I'm going back to Michelin for EVA. I thought that the Bridgestone early wear reviews were skewed. but after taking them off after just 18k miles... they had more wear than the 35k michelins I put back on.

They will go back on next summer... (They're on my summer rims) but I don't expect them to make it past one summer season.. 35-40k for a set of tires is just not OK in my book. I got 70k out of my first set of Michelins...and even got better mileage.

Sometimes you just have to pony up for quality. Saving $$$ up front usually backfires.

My Daughters Boyfriend needed tires on his honda. I got him to buy the Kumho Ecsta 4x and have they shipped to my house where I mounted and balanced them. Great tires.
1 month later I put 4 on my Jetta. I been a Kumho fan for years. We have run then on everything from Cars to SUV's.

I have 225/45/17 Kumho LX tires with 25k on them so far and they have been really great tires. I drive hard into corners on a winding 220km per day commute and these things stick like glue and never hydroplane (we get ALOT of rain here in BC). It will take a lot of convincing for me to not buy these tires again.

years ago i had a set of Kumhos on my Ford Ranger and that truck tire was terrible - fell apart in chunks, so I was leary to try the brand again, but I'm certainly glad I did.

A few months ago, I too got some new tires from tire rack. I ended up getting a tire and rim package. I went with Fuzions HRi. They were on the top seller list. So far, no problems. Seem to handle just find and get me to and from work. I can understand if I was racing or doing autocross to get something expensive with performance ratings. I think I paid something like $870 for tires and rims with shipping....
