So I pull up to one of my favorite stations this morning and notice that they now sell B20. I think great, I'll try a tank! When I go to grab the nozzle I notice that the whole lower half is covered in black sludge. The whole cradle is also covered in it, gross!

It was enough to change my mind about trying it. Is this typical of BD pumps or is something strange going on here?

Thanks All,

-Brian

Every diesel pump handle I've seen had gunk of some sort on it, including the B20 pump here in Providence. I bet someone was trying to squeeze a tankful in and it splashed all over the place, its pretty foamy stuff.

If you're worried pour some into a gas can and take a look at it, but I can't imagine that a place would sell bunk fuel, at least not intentionally. Esp in VT.

When fuel or bio is spilled, even on the hose, every bit of dust/dirt is attracted to it and it ends up looking like your "black sludge".
