End of the month works, good idea.
At Barrie it was on the 27th that I signed the papers and they gave me $700 off invoice for each car so that was a good deal for me.
Trade value was fair as well, gave me 10500 for a Jeep I then saw on Autotrader asking 12800.

I had a run in with these guys last year and they are definitely a shady bunch. Went as far as giving them a $1000 deposit on my credit card and then things went bad. Ended up calling some lady at the Dilawri group and she forced them to give it back. The joker in financing said they were going to sue me if I didn't buy it. A-holes!! Anyways I did manage to get new fenders for my 04 this year from them for free installed. I can' t complain about that.

I'm due for my first service next week...I will see how Pfaff is for quality of service...also going to have a face to face meeting about speedo issue....to me its not safe...7kms variance is too much...driving on the 400 too slow is almost as bad as too fast...
I hate doing math while driving...
Just drive the speed of traffic and focus less on the spedometer ;)

I usually take my car, (06 Jetta Wagon), into V Dubbs in innisfil for service. I really like dealing with Mike at VDubbs.

However Mike was away, and I needed an oil change, so I went to the dealer, Autohaus Barrie. Came away with a recommendation that I should not be driving as my callipers were leaking and the brakes needed doing.

I said no, and took it VDubbs 2 weeks later. The Calipers were fine, and the Brakes were not due for another few thousand KMs. Totally a rip off, do not trust these guys.

You guys gotta start doing your own work, especially oil changes.... It's really not that hard.

I've got an appointment with Barrie VW in August for rust repair on the wagon.

In regards to what people say about certain dealers giving better prices. It all comes down to you, how you deal with these guys. When I bought my 09 ford new, I found the dealer that no one could match. The way you buy is call them, I didn't buy my car in person; had the deal made over the phone. Call them and say that you are ready to come in person to sign for a car if they can match the other guys price. They say yes, then you call your other guy tell them that another dealer is throwing in something on top of matching the price, then he will do something a little extra and you go back and fourth until you secure a deal then go into sign. It starts with an in person talk to get an approximate price value, then you do the over-the-phone thing. Cash rules as well, if you finance this wont work they are more firm.

I would love to change my own oil. I do my own air filters, and fuel filters. However I have yet to do an oil change myself, I am nervous doing one myself, until someone shows me, or lets me see one before I try it myself.

You mentioned the rust repair, is that the warranty on the fenders? I have some and Mike at VDubbs said I should take it to a dealer to have them check it out.

I would be stumped at first for a cartridge type oil filter, I never did one myself. I would search online and try to figure it out myself anyhow. Oil changes are made for anyone to do, no license needed to perform oil changes so they cant be too hard. With a spin on oil filter its as easy as buying some ramps, drive up on the ramp. Parking brake on, wood behind tire in back. On a warm engine and oil collector under drain plug, remove the drain plug and be sure to not loose the washer. Let it drain, with oil fill cap removed. Then you take a oil filter wrench on the filter and spin it off. Let it drip, then clean the seat, lube the oil filter gasket with a little oil, and spin it on hand tight with oil in the filter. Put the plug back in, not too tight and fill with oil. The cartridge should not be that hard either. Probably even easier.

The next time you're due for an oil change, drop me a PM I'll give you a hands on crash course. :)

My rust claim will be on the hatch (Common problem with the wagons)

Good luck on the rust repair! Had mine in last fall while we were trying to buy a new tdi for the wife. They came back and said that the rust was due to paint damage even though the right front fender had a 3" x2" hole with the pad showing. They said that if I bought a new car from them they would knock some off the body shop estimate. I told them no new fender no new car and was laughed at. Not only will I not deal with Barrie I will not buy a new VW at all! VW wants to be world number one and has the worst new car warranty and they won't honour it anyway so what is the point. As long as I can I will pick up older VW's and drive them.

Leavens in London sucks. I bought my jetta there and the overall sales experience was fine, but service was absolutely amateur. It was as if there was no experienced mechanics that worked in the shop, and the service advisors were not even mechanically inclined. Thats what happens when a business owner does not value skill and knowledge. I would consider buying a car from there again, but would not even consider for any type of service. I'm guessing that once they have been in Orillia long enough, they will get rid of the high paid technicians and service staff and replace with minimum wage morons. Too bad because Orillia is a nice town and deserves better than that.
+1 for that experience, sales was awesome, business office slightly pushy and service was horrible.
