Average 40.44 MPG, approx 20 miles city driving, the rest interstate driving about 69-70 MPH. 17" factory rims with 40 PSI. Car has only 3900 miles on it. Mileage seems to drop about 1 MPG for each MPH increase over 65. I can't figure out how anyone is getting more mileage cruising at 75+ MPH.

Just wait til you see what I have in mind for September.
You mean buying 6 liters of Elf Evolution at TDIFest and using it in your car?

I have teams of people scouring these boards and keeping track of "the competition."

I started running it 2000 miles ago, and it has been AWESOME.

Next on the list: lowering IQ, advancing timing, and underbody smooth plating.

Lessee... May and June I got 47 both months on D2 and 505.01 oil. I'm pretty sure from what I have seen on this board that I can get low 50's from the Elf Evolution alone. What's your best month with over 1200 miles in a month without the 506.01 oil?

I'd like to see what numbers you get on my North Woods test route (Finlayson to Duluth). Going to TDIfest?

4 tanks before Elf:
Miles Gallons MPG
631.6 14.25 44.32
677.2 14.95 45.29
635.6 14.55 43.68
608.7 13.59 44.79

2553.1 57.34 44.52

4 tanks with Elf:

666.8 14.359 46.44
742.8 14.948 49.69
716.0 14.854 48.20
704.7 14.455 48.75

2830.3 58.616 48.28

So, I'm seeing about an 8% increase in average fuel economy before/after.

Those are a decent before/after comparison because the route/temp/etc is fairly constant, as is the source of fuel, tire pressure, etc.

Back in April/Early May, I had 2 tanks that(combined) were 1421 miles and an average of 47.7 mpg. Similar conditions with Elf, therefore, should yield a little over 50mpg.... we'll see.

moondawg

PS, sadly, no, I'm not going to TDIFest.

Actually, I would not figure the 666-mile tank in before or after averages - I think you were probably in the middle of the tank when you changed the oil.

Excluding that, a 9.8% improvement in MPG would have put me at about 52 MPG overall for June. You will not dispatch me that easily.
I'm still way ahead of you in the net CO2 per mile department.

I was not in the middle of the tank. Changed oil, drove (about 6 miles) to the fuel station. Puh-leeze, do you think my methods are that sloppy?

I had two hookers push me thru Camden, NJ and got 69 mpg, but I don't know how to put that down on the stat sheets.....

Second fill of the month (and with 506.01:

Date: Aug 15
Fuel: 17.4 gal B100
Distance: 758.7 miles
--------------------
43.6 mpg @ B100

monthly total:
34.6 gal B100
1524.9 miles
--------------
44.1 mpg @ B100

It's been a bit cooler, so AC is under 50%. I've been doing a bit more city driving to compensate.

Oddly, the fuel light came on a couple minutes after start up this morning at 728 miles on the tank (so I trust that reading). Judging by that, I should have hit 800 fairly easily. But based on my guess at 18 gal capacity, at the time I filled up I wouldn't have. I've put 17.9 a couple of times before; maybe my max is a bit more than 18. Some day, I'll carry some spare fuel in a jug and see if my guess is wrong, or the chime is set too low

I wasn't saying it was sloppy; I just thought it could have been mid-tank because it was going from 44 before to 46, then to 48. I see the 46 as a statistical aberration. Your last three tanks are very good. I have the order in for the oil, perhaps I might put it in before TDIfest.

The reason I ordered six liters is so I have an extra liter in case of an emergency.

I don't have space at the apartment building to change the oil, but there is a place that is open evenings that is willing to provide the labor for the job for about $15. I think I will take them up on that price.

August is the best month for fuel mileage, don't know why.

Total so far this month (2 tanks already!)
1328.74 + 1311.901 = 2640.641 miles
25.096 + 24.218 = 49.314 gallons

53.55 mpg.

Practically got you getmore...so close, maybe next time.

Okay, this sucks. Either WSP in Phoenix has changed suppliers, or the current batch by their supplier is really crappy, energy-wise. Second low tank in a row, and this tank I drove to maximize economy.
